I had a wonderful conversation with Alexandra Pimor 🌻🌍, the Director of Nature Governance Agency (NGA) at the Earth Law Center, about Onboarding Nature to Businesses at our Life-Centered Design School community gathering last week. 🌱 We learned so much, including: - The sacred relationship with nature in Alexandra’s motherland, Madagascar. - Different definitions of nature using Nielson’s Nature of Nature framework. - How we perpetuate a paradigm of separation when we define nature as an external entity. - That businesses and organizations are living organisms, created by humans—who are also living organisms on Earth. - The root of organizational change and nature-conscious governance is individual. We can plant seeds in individuals to inspire them to bring nature on board. - Family-owned businesses may be more open to exploring nature-conscious governance because they are more likely to think about future generations and their legacy. - Onboarding Nature into business can take unique forms, with different representation approaches for the Voice of Nature, such as the guardianship model (speaking for nature) and the agential model (speaking as nature). - Not to underestimate the power of our vision. 2moI got so many insights from Alexandra Pimor 🌻🌍 her conversation with Yagmur Gungor. I better understood the phrase, "We are nature!" People use this sentence a lot, but what does it actually mean? Alexandra describes it as "We are within nature". Change comes through understanding what we want TO BE. Things that I want to understand better from a professional point of view are: - What designers do I want to be - What entrepreneur do I want to be - That is the nature of the Life-Centered Design School as an organisation - How do we advocate for nature within the school Thank you, Yagmur Gungor, for hosting the session ❤️
