Thought I would post some images from the drawing board it’s a potential community project in it’s early stages with the aim to provide much needed and improved facilities to the local sporting community and parish council. When it comes to creating and improving places, the case for working closely with children and young people as capable experts and active collaborators continues to grow. A Government committee is currently seeking evidence on how children experience the places where they live and whether their needs are being met by the #planning system. So, it may just be about to grow much faster. Let’s hope so.   LDA Design’s Jemma Hall explains why it’s high time that more is done to ensure children and young adults enjoy where they live, with opportunities for adventurous play and to be active. Some of the stats for how this has fallen away over the last half a century make for some pretty grim reading. Fifty years ago, most children walked or cycled to school, compared to just 25% in 2022. Same for playing out in the street. The impacts on early life development and health are significant. After a bit of reflection, we need some help - can anyone link us up with the right people? Looking for experts or organisations with trauma-informed museum practice as their thing. From co-creation stage & welfare plans, to delivery of finished safe spaces, curation and programming. We are at stage 1 of developing something wonderful, a brand-new museum that’s led by local people. However at these early stages of true engagement work, we are already identifying a need for something above the usual welfare plan for participants. Such a fantastic visit last week to an established urban room in Woolwich, that’s delivering way above what it ever anticipated! A few things that really stuck from the day of talks and presentations: - community ‘readiness’ is often overlooked. Before interventions are implemented, have you actually assessed how receptive people will be to it? - when you are an open door venue and are truly inviting everyone to participate, you also need to be ready to be everything to everyone - ‘nothing about us, without us’ #regeneration #accrington #community #museum #museumdevelopment #traumainformed

Did you know? Since 2002, Over-the-Rhine has faced a dramatic loss in affordable housing, with a 73% reduction in units for our lowest-income neighbors. This stark decline—from 3,235 units in 2002 to just 869 in 2015—highlights the urgent need for affordable housing in Cincinnati.   Over the same period, Over-the-Rhine experienced a 348.8% increase in median household income, demonstrating the growing disparity within the community.   Over-the-Rhine Community Housing is committed to reversing these trends though providing affordable housing options to build inclusive community and benefit low-income residents.
