It was 2011, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I walked into Gareth Steer's office, then MD of Optegra. I sat to discuss our 126% growth in first-appointment conversation rate results. My eyes caught a list ⬇ from my training course on his wall.
I felt like a champ! 🏆
So, I’m sharing with you "13 Game-Changing Tips for First Impressions in Healthcare." Let’s make each patient feel like they’re the only one, shall we?
👉 Be Ready: Have the patient’s info at hand. Know them before you meet them!
👉 Be Inspired: Greet them like your job depends on it. Spoiler: it does.
👉 Pep Talk Yourself: Each patient's experience is new. Make it special for them.
👉 Be On Time: Lateness? A no-go. Show you value their time.
👉 Smile: It’s the global hello! 😃
👉 Eye Contact: Lock eyes 80% of the time. Builds trust fast.
👉 Use Their Names: Nothing sounds sweeter. Ask if you can go first-name basis.
👉 Pronounce Right: Names matter. If you don’t know, ask.
👉 Say Thanks: A quick "thanks for coming!" goes a long way.
👉 Offer Drinks: Don't point. Bring it to them!
👉 Make It Comfy: Take their coats, adjust the temp. Make them feel at home.
👉 Be Tidy: A clean room says you care.
👉 Walk, Don’t Run: Use the short walk toward the exam room as a warm-up. Start building that rapport.
