Traffic sources MATTER! Our internal media buyer regularly tests new traffic sources (hey when you're spending $300k+ PM you've gotta test new sources) and I enjoy hearing his feedback... "Brad...this source I just tested came back with a 95% "trash" rate...95%! How is this guy getting clients to buy media from him twice in a row?? No chance his traffic performs...I don't care how cheap it is!" "We don’t just buy blindly, a lot of other buys do buy whatever number is reported to them. Garbage in garbage out" This happens a lot, and thankfully we have filters galore to ENSURE that the traffic we're sending to clients is PREMIUM. And with Sept/Oct looking like the market is coming back, it's crucial you make sure your lead sources are TOP notch and your life will be a lot easier. Michael Del Rio Michael MacDougall

So much to unpack here but.. 💯 Agencies are being held more accountable to their clients for data quality and accuracy. Buyers are becoming less comfortable putting budgets into 'black boxes'. 👨👩👦👦 There was a time when pubs didn't need to be as clever because there was a ton of inventory, and it sold. Now it's getting tough. We need to tell a story - the story of how our audience is unique. 💰 Ad Teams have a responsibility to enable sales people to do this. Help them tell the story of our 1P data and teach the client something about their users they hadn't thought of. - Chloe Grutchfield and Franz Etten shared the first step in doing all of this. Napoleon once said, "Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake." The opposite is true when you've got an ad campaign rolling. One lead gen campaign I've been working on is now driving sales-qualified leads for a California-based service company. Every day they get calls for jobs that people want done fast they can handle. Then this happens... "Oh we should add more keywords like x, y and z." No, what you do is this... "Let's put our foot down on the gas as hard as we can until the campaign redlines." In other words, let's scale until it breaks. Then once we've found the breaking point... We can start another campaign and test your keywords. The TLDR is this: Never interrupt a profitable ad campaign... just keep feeding it.

Just surpassed $800K MRR @ beehiiv 🤯 What's crazier is this only represents ~70% of revenue today... The Ad Network is our quickest growing revenue line (which isn't included in this chart).

Before: Prospect: how much does it cost? Me: It's X amount Prospect: ... (never heard of them again) Now: Prospect: How much does it cost? Me: Saw that your service costs $20,000 per client. - We have 58,000+ subscribers - an average of 48% open rate - average 3-5% CTR - That's 27,840 eyeballs per campaign - so that's around 835+ to 1,392+ qualified audiences who could view and click on your ad - we have packages 1-3 Simply closing one could already yield a return on investment of X amount. Client: let's go with package 2! Just kidding I didn't get a response. What do you guys think I'm missing here?
