If you work in academia or academia-related organisations, are you aware of the substantial gender asymmetries in this sector? My book, Women In Academia: Achivieving Our Potential, summarises the challenges relevant to all countries and most disciplines, and presents suggestions for individuals to increase their effectiveness and navigate the sector. It's relevant for people of any gender and it's also very relevant at an organisational level, the source of most asymmetry due to unconcious and concious bias. Since publication, I've delivered several seminars on the book to a number of UK universities and the overwhelming response has been that this book is needed and gender equity and equality is everyone's business. I will be delivering regular webinars and workshops on this topic. Dates, times and costs will be released early April https://lnkd.in/dCskFXm The book can be ordered direct from here - https://lnkd.in/enGNyWuJ #academia #women #personaleffectiveness #gender #genderbias #highereducation

Celebrating Women's Trailblazing Contributions in Education on International Women's Day Through the centuries, women around the globe have not fought just for their right to education but have also been at the forefront of imparting knowledge. From the pioneering work of Savitribai Phule in India, who in the 19th century opened the first school for girls, to Malala Yousafzai’s valiant struggle for girls' education in Pakistan, women have been pivotal in shaping progressive societies. Dr. Kakenya Ntaiya defied the Maasai traditional norms by pursuing education and later establishing a school for girls, fostering a safe environment for learning and inspiring hope. Maria Montessori revolutionised early childhood education promoting hands-on, child-centered learning, a practice that beautifully thrives today across the continents. There are also the silent victories of millions of unnamed women educators who nurture minds in every corner of the world. Their dedication and resilience have not only transformed classrooms, but have also paved paths for countless girls and boys to follow their dreams. Education is not merely a stepping stone but a powerful instrument of gender equality and women's rights. When we educate girls, we empower them to break cycles of poverty, reduce inequality, and build resilient communities. As we celebrate these women's contributions, we should also acknowledge the work that remains in making education accessible and equitable for every girl, every woman, and everyone. #internationalwomensday2024 #educationforall #womenineducation #genderequality #empowerment #herstory #TeachForChange #learntolead #educategirls

New Publication Alert🌊 Gender equality in education: an analysis of entrepreneurial behavior in technological colleges in a developing country @Seda_UK_ #IETI_Journal by Moraes et al. ABSTRACT The article analysed the differences in the influence of entrepreneurial characteristics on entrepreneurial intention according to gender in technological higher education education in a developing country. The methodology used was quantitative, with multivariate data analysis through structural equation modelling. The sample consisted of 604 students of technological higher education from the São Paulo State Technological Colleges. The results proved that the female gender had a more intense influence on self-efficacy and persistence influence on entrepreneurial intention. The male gender had a more significant influence on the relationship between sociability and entrepreneurial intention. For technological higher education institutions to implement an effective entrepreneurial education, it is fundamental to encourage entrepreneurial characteristics differently between genders. Developing and fostering entrepreneurship among women in higher technological education requires a deeper understanding of the female entrepreneurial profile. https://lnkd.in/gy7V-FHZ #GenderStudies #HigherEducation #WomenInTech

India has made amazing progress over the recent years, with more women enrolling - or being encouraged to enrol in - STEM courses. Female enrolment in higher education has gone up by 28% in ten years. In STEM courses, girls and women constitute 43% of enrolment - one of the highest in the world. However, we still have a long way to go for true, equitable gender diversity in the workforce. Workplace policies, culture, and experiences are still lagging behind, with a Gender Gap study revealing women in the workplace numbers had only increased by 3%. I’m proud to work at Quest Global, where we pride ourselves on empowering women in the workforce - and beyond! Our recent CSR initiatives have all been highly encouraging of elevating women’s education. #womeninengineering #womeninSTEM #genderdiversity

Empowering Women Through Education: Bridging the Gender Gap The International Academic Association (IAA) I believe that every action, no matter how small, contributes to the larger goal of reducing gender equalities or, indeed, increasing them. The International Academic Association (IAA) congress recently asked its attendees these questions: v What are you doing today to cement the gap of gender biases? v How can we foster an environment that is conducive to the growth and empowerment of women? v What are you doing today to cement the gap of gender biases? Reflect on their daily actions and contributions toward narrowing the gender gap. 1. Take a look at yourself! Your conscious and unconscious personal beliefs that perpetuate inequalities. 2. Advocate for gender-neutral policies in the workplace, 3. Challenge stereotypes 4. Support women's advancement opportunities 5. Educate women and give them the knowledge and skills they need to go into work able. How are you building a future for women? 👨🎓

💡 Did you know that in cutting edge fields such as artificial intelligence, only one in five professionals (22%) is a woman? Even though women have made tremendous progress towards increasing their participation in higher education, they are still under-represented in these fields, perpetuating a significant gender gap in all levels of STEM. Today we celebrate the strides and achievements made by women and girls in science, and we advocate for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work.
