There ya have it folks... The Scam! Here's how the Better Business Bureau said the scam works: The scammer sends you money with a stolen credit card. Quickly after, the person requests from you an equal amount of money. That is when you send the money back, except that payment is a new transaction from your account. When the stolen card is reported, the payment originally deposited into your account vanishes. And guess what...you're out of luck and you're on the line for it. There's no recourse at that point, so be careful.

This is what happens when we get a tax refund too.

If people would put this much energy in to a real job instead of trying to scam people, they would probably be living large.

But do you send them a 'Thank you' card? 😁

Is a month safe to say it’s legit? I bought Starbucks gift card for someone on LinkedIn who requested it and BD gift for a POSSQL😉. Although total was only in double digits, the Publix checker diverted me to customer service to ensure I wasn’t being scammed! LoL I was not..but I found it amusing.

Cops are meant to stop immediate, impending, crimes from occurring. They will never tell you the real law bc police are not lawyers. 33. When talking to police you should talk less if anything at all. 5th Amendment protects you from possibly incriminating yourself accidentally bc the burden of proof lies with the challenger, naturally, according to precepts of laws.

Yup! A month or two ago I got a random $250 payment into my PayPal account, followed by an email "oops sorry, wrong person, could you please send it back to me". I keep waiting to see it disappear, but so far it is still there. Time will tell.

Kind of like stimulus checks from the government, right?

I was a victim of a variation of this scam, only that variation included my business and a contract. The scammers are sophisticated and anybody can find themselves a victim. Be careful! Use situational awareness. Ask questions!
