Thrilled to share that I'm part of this year's Trade Mission VUB as a participant! 🚀 This year, we embark on an exciting 3-week journey to Kenya and Ivory Coast. I personally joined to gain hands-on experience in international business, expand my global network, and immerse myself in a new culture. This year marks the 34th edition of the Trade Mission, organized by our team at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Our team comprises around 30 dedicated master's students under the expert guidance of professors Michael Dooms, Magali Geerts, and the rest of their academic team. We're in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), The Belgian Embassy in Kenya & Ivory Coast, The Embassy of Kenia & Ivory Coast in Belgium, the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency (BFTA), Initiatiefgroep Solvay, and our extensive alumni network. Kenya and Ivory Coast were carefully chosen due to their promising markets. The assignment of the mission is up to you. From benchmarking, market research to site engineering, together with the academic team an assignment will be matched to a student. Post-mission, all participating companies will receive a final report and an end presentation. My time at the University of Sydney provided more than just academic learning. The capstone program offered real-world, practical insights, making the learning experience holistic. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your time in your chosen field? Understanding the nuances of the international environment is pivotal. The key lies in managing a diverse workforce wisely, catering to their unique needs while maintaining cohesive organizational goals. What do you see as the major threat or opportunity to your industry in the future? Six thousand students, including freshmen and incoming exchange students (over 1,000 for this first semester of 2023/24) from the 280 partner schools are #beginning their experience at #Bocconi. One in 4 of those enrolled, after passing the selection process, will receive a #scholarship or tuition exemption (in total, over 40 million euros in student benefits are allocated each year on the basis of income and merit). "We make a promise to all freshmen: your years at Bocconi will help you become future-proof people, ready to make an important contribution wherever you go. Never be afraid to dare, but also never be afraid to fail: only in this way will you grow as aware, open-minded individuals capable of positively impacting society," is the wish of Francesco Billari, Rector of the University. In order to #welcome the new students, a busy calendar of meetings has been organised, featuring, in addition to the Rector, school Deans, degree course directors, staff and student associations together with #YesMilano (the Milan Chamber of Commerce's agency for the internationalisation of students). I'm overjoyed to report that, after a month of waiting, I've received the results of my Master's thesis in Digital Marketing! 🎓 I got excellent scores, which marked the end of my academic adventure. Really grateful to CIM - Cyprus Business School and University of West London for this exciting and challenging journey. Although I assumed this would be my final study project, I became completely immersed in it. The topic I chose made my experience truly special. Exploring the intersections of cross-cultural communications, generational marketing, and the relationship between these elements and purchase behaviour among Russian-speaking women expat groups living in the EU was a fascinating experience. Exploring the complexities of different cultures and generations gave me with significant insights that I am eager to implement in the real world. In a world where connection is everything, incorporating cultural diversity into marketing strategy not only improves brand experiences but also strengthens relationships between businesses and their customers, establishing a worldwide community of understanding and respect.
