Last week, in partnership with the Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Alberta Motor Transport Association, RAD Torque Raceway, University of Alberta, NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), and Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association we hosted Hydrogen at the Raceway - where leaders in the hydrogen space got the opportunity to drive YEG's hydrogen fuel cell electric Toyota Mirai's. The permanent, multi-model hydrogen refueling stations will be equipped to serve heavy-duty vehicles, such as commercial and municipal trucks and buses, as well light-duty hydrogen fuel cell cars. 🚆🌿 Excited to share a new video showcasing the #FCH2RAIL demonstrator train on various lines in Spain and Portugal! The #FCH2RAIL project (Fuel Cell Hybrid Power Pack for Rail Applications) is a collaborative effort with partners from Belgium, Germany, Spain, and Portugal. This innovative project features a hybrid, bi-modal drive system that combines electrical power from overhead lines with a hybrid power pack of fuel cells and batteries, allowing operation independent of the overhead line. With a budget of 14 million euros, it is funded with 10 million euros by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, an agency of the European Commission. Key achievements include: ✅ Successful testing on 6 commercial lines in Spain and Portugal. ✅ Demonstrated over 800 km autonomy on challenging terrains. ✅ First hydrogen train to test on the Portuguese Railway Network. The FCH2RAIL project is a significant milestone in CAF Group's commitment to zero-emission mobility. By integrating advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology, we are paving the way for a sustainable future in rail transport. In the Philippines we are seeing a construction boom in Distribution Centers and humongous warehouses sprouting in and around Manila, the most congested densest city in the world and most of these DCs are converting from straight 10-wheeled 10-15 ton payload 16-pallet trucks to 40-footer 20-40 ton 22 pallet trailer Semi’s to lower transport costs and faster turnaround by unhitching/hitching trailer beds and many of these Semi’s are 6-wheeled short wheelbase. I cannot imagine how they can fit a huge battery pack for long haul and heavy traffic (30 kms one-way can take up to 5 hours to travel in stop and go traffic)
Air Products will build two high-capacity hydrogen fueling stations in Germany. This is part of a larger plan to construct 200 fueling stations and attract 11,000 heavy duty trucks and 3,800 fuel cells buses in the region.
