Here are a few lessons that teachers can learn from their students.

It's that time of year again - "Back to School!" I apologize if anyone isn't ready to hear that just yet. In Las Vegas we start next week! Every year I share micro-lessons using the- Ask, Correct, Engage, Connect (ACE-C) framework I designed aimed to design any lesson with ease. This lesson while written for students can be used in any space- so even at your next "All Staff, Professional Development or Huddle." I use the activity in trainings for all ages. Positive Self-talk has the power to reshape a child's brain and help them thrive in and outside of the classroom- from academics to sports. One thing we can do to encourage use- is surround them with it. Doesn't have to be complicated or fancy and in this case of the lesson- they can make their own. From the interior of the bus to the cafeteria- deck the halls and walls with Positive Self-Talk. Parents, and guardians, the beginning of the school year can be a stressful time. You won't get it all right and your child might not be leaping out of bed with a smile day 1 or day 31- it's okay- in those moment take a breath and start fresh and remind them too as well. Parents are an integral part of the learning ecosystem, yet they are often overlooked during the digital transformation journey in education. Recess Edtech has built a solution to address the various challenges around that.

I recently conducted a parent-teacher conference at my school, and it went quite smoothly. I'd like to take this opportunity to share some valuable tips that I learned from YouTube and my personal experiences during the conference. • Acknowledge that parents know their kids better. Seek insights into students' lives outside of school.  • Create a concise one-page reference sheet with student data and progress reflecting students’ lives inside of school.  • Communicate with parents about challenges, issues, and successes the student is experiencing. Demonstrate the ability to see the good in students. Find at least one positive aspect about the student to share. • Share student work to illustrate progress or areas needing improvement. Display tangible evidence of the student's performance, whether struggling or excelling. • Inform parents about resources available, such as online platforms, recorded videos, or shared materials. • Set timers to ensure equal time for all parents and prevent lengthy discussions. • Recommends having a cup of coffee or another energizing drink to stay alert during the long conference day. • Stay relaxed, calm, and be authentic during the conference. #ParentTeacherConference #effectivecommunication #teacherjobs #studentfeedback #parentsupport
