Are you still trying to emulate someone you admire? Channeling their vibe and engaging people the way you've seen them do SO effectively? 🤔 If so, I want you to THANK yourself. I'm serious. 💞 Looking back, I don’t blame myself AT ALL for trying to imitate my role model. In fact, I give myself a lot of credit for being able to emulate a "tested-and proven" approach... It's part of the learning curve. WE ALL DO THIS. When we learn a new skill - we mimic the mentors, teachers, and role models who showed us the ropes. 🎼 It's how we got comfortable with speaking a new language.It helps us build the confidence to *one day* own our own voices, and be just as effective and inspiring. 💃🏻 But do you know what I’ve come to realize? At a certain point, we've got to ask ourselves if it's time to STOP "faking it 'til we make it." When we get to a place in our lives and careers where we've technically got a handle on things... Is it time to take off our mentor's costume and finally own our singular, most empowered communication style? This is the conversation we’ve been having inside The Confident Communicator lately, and I can't wait to continue it with you here over the next couple months!!! 👋 Let me know if this topic hits home for you, and I'll be sure to include you in a free training I'm hosting next month! #confidentcommunicator #careergrowth #confidencetips #careeradviceforwomen

Mentorship can come from the unlikeliest of places.It doesn’t have to be from someone in your field, good advice is good advice. Never be dismissive of someone’s POV because they don’t necessarily fit the mold of what you feel a mentor should be, or look like. My mentor was my dad, and though he didn’t spend a second in advertising (he was a fire protection guru), so many pearls of wisdom that he shared with me are universally applicable. And that’s the great thing about getting older - you can start to put the pieces together and adhere to a philosophy uniquely your own, based on the knowledge you’ve accumulated, and shaped by the values you should always continue to foster.

IB MYP Coordinator at Ascend International School Former Instructional coach at Dhirubhai Ambani International School IBEN MYP workshop leader, Programme leader, Independent Erickson and Lanning CBCI Certified Trainer
An after-school professional development conversation ..... Me: (after sharing some visual thinking strategies for assessment) So which VTR would you like to use for formative assessments in your class? Team member 1: But we need something more of a concrete solution for class discipline. 👨🏫 Team member 2: None of these strategies will work if our students are not emotionally safe. So let's address the bullying issue first. 🙅♀️ Team member 3: And when do we teach content, concepts or skills? Only then it is possible to assess them, right? 💁♂️ Team member 4: Sanjeevani, these strategies sound interesting but the concerns expressed are also real. 🤷♀️ Me: Reflecting on the lessons learnt... Lessons learnt from this PD as a team leader: - Assess team members' needs and design your PD accordingly 🔎 📋 - Be in the field (classroom) with your teachers to get first-hand experience of their challenges 📌 - Understand their strengths and involve them in sharing some of their successes in these PDs 🔐 I was fortunate to work with diverse teams 👥 , where people never hesitated to question 🙋♀️ , or challenge 🤹♀️ me and hence were open to suggestions and innovations coming from me! The result: lots of fun learning moments and a huge growth for me and my team! Does your team question you or are they intimidated by your presence? How do they react to any new changes suggested by you? Most importantly, do you have frequent crazy break times with them?

SuperHero visit Summer Camp Tuesday, July 9, 2024: While teaching the 6 weeks "Public Speaking" Class at PS 389 to the Kindergartner class the Topic was "Who is your super hero, Describe him/her and why is he /she your Superhero? Each student task was to give a 2-3 minute presentation. Leading by example I was the first one to present. So proud of these 5 years old students who did a good job in presenting their speech with learning to make sentences, projecting appropriate posture while speaking, making eye contact and using their vocal variety. After they were evaluating some of the students redid their presentation so as to continue improving their skills in speaking. Most of the students choose 'SipderMan as their Hero". #BuildingConfidence. Welcome to the Leaders for the Future, and now I am introducing you to my SuperHero;

3 steps to gaining a mentor: 1. Ask someone you respect for advice 2. Apply advice (or don’t) 3. Follow up, and let them know how it went (This is the step most people forget) Most people ahead of you are happy to help when given the chance.
