🎪This week, we attended Arendalsuka, a democracy festival in Norway that attracted nearly 100,000 people. The festival featured over 2,000 events on various topics and 200 stands where attendees interacted with political parties, institutions, organisations, media, and businesses. The EEA & Norway Grants had a stand where Norwegian Donor Programme Partners shared information about the Grants and their projects. On Thursday, there was an event celebrating 20 years of the Grants, with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs in attendance.

The Arendalsuka attendees had a few things to share with our LinkedIn followers. 🇳🇴“We are very happy with how the EEA and Norway Grants have developed over the last 20 years, supporting green, democratic, and inclusive development in Eastern and Southern Europe. As active participants of the EU's internal market, Norway wanted to give back, and these grants have not only achieved that but have also fostered strong partnerships between Norwegian institutions and their counterparts in the beneficiary states.” - Espen Barth Eide, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs
Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs 🇵🇱"During the last eight years, Norway Grants was the only one funding anti-corruption activities in Poland." - Stefan Batory Foundation 💡"Happy anniversary to Norway and the EEA! Innovation Norway is happy that the EEA agreement has ensured Norway access to the EU internal market for 30 years. This has been crucial for the Norwegian private sector, as almost 70% of Norwegian mainland export goes to Europe. And Innovation Norway is also proud to be managing some of the EEA & Norway Grants, that contribute to growth and transition in Europe, while also supporting Norwegian businesses that want to reach new markets. It's a win-win situation for Norway and Europe." - Håkon Haugli, Director of Innovation Norway EEA and Norway Grants by Innovation Norway 🏛️"We are thrilled to see how the grants have given local communities across Europe the opportunity to take care of and use their own cultural heritage. Some projects have been especially important, such as the Lety Holocaust Memorial in Czechia. The situation for Europe's Roma population is difficult, and their history is often overlooked. This project was a step in the right direction, and the opening in April was a powerful experience." - Hanna Geiran, Director general of the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage Riksantikvaren 🔬"Congratulations on 20 years of the EEA Grants. The Grants fund important cooperation between researchers in Norway and in the Beneficiary States. This has great value for both parties, and lays the ground for further European cooperation." - Mari Sundli Tveit, Director of the Norwegian Research Council Norges forskningsråd #EEANorwayGrants #Norway #Iceland #Liechtenstein #Arendalsuka
