🔦SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY🔦🌟 Today we are chatting with Wayne from Louisiana. 🟠Tell us a little bit about your story: I am originally from the US Virgin Islands but I currently reside in Alexandria Louisiana. I’ve been living there for the past 20 years and I am a quad amputee. I’ve been married to my wife Barbara Moorehead for 30 years. I was diagnosed with sepsis in August 2018 and I had my amputations done on September 11 and 13th of 2018. 🟠Tell us about your family: We have one daughter and her name is Christmas. She has three children with her husband, Jeremy. 🟠What are some of your hobbies or favorite activities? One of my favorite things to do is work around the yard and home building projects. I also did a lot of community theater as a set builder. As a former truck driver, I really like being on the open road. I have a van that’s been tricked out. It is really nice with hand control. I usually drive about 200 miles a week between Louisiana and Houston. Having an accessible van has really freed me and made me very independent. 🟠What advice would you give someone who is struggling with their limb difference? "If I had to give a new amputee some advice, it would be to set realistic expectations. Your life has been dramatically changed and you’re going through a lot of emotions, good and bad. You’re going to have a lot of highs and lows. The trick is to even them out a little bit so that the highs are not so high and lows are not so low. One of the things I do is take advantage of the new opportunities that are out there for me. I travel quite a bit and meet new people and enjoy talking to fellow amputees.
