I googled modular PBV urban vehicles and got a verge article static these were Kia. That's OK, Hyundai and Kia often share technology as they each own about 2/3 of the other company. When I think modular, I think modules, kind of like plug-and-play. I designed in theory a modular car - it had three modules - a cab (for one or two people), a back seat, and a truck bed. You could just use the cab. You could attach the back seat or the truck bed behind the cab. You could attach two back seat modules. You could even attach the back seat behind the truck bed, if you're kids were really unruly that day. This kind of modularity is different You can get a different complete car at the start. Then, you can rearrange or remove the seats.

Brooks / AFP via Getty Images Mitsubishi signed a memorandum of understanding with Nissan and Honda to join their pre-existing partnership to jointly develop electric vehicles and other related tech. The hope is that by working together, the three Japanese automakers can catch up to their rivals in the race to introduce more technologically advanced vehicles in the future. It’s another example of big, global automakers pooling their resources in the interest of defraying costs and finding more efficient ways to introduce new EVs to the marketplace. The inclusion of Mitsubishi “will not only add new knowledge and strengths but will also provide further synergies that can only be generated by the three companies,” Nissan and Honda said in a statement. Honda paired up with General Motors to jointly develop EVs, only to dissolve the partnership several years later. (The newly released Honda Prologue is built on GM’s Ultium platform.) Several months later, Honda teamed up with Nissan with similar goals in mind. And Nissan is already part of a decadesold global alliance with Mitsubishi that also includes Renault. Honda was likely looking for a partner to help take the reins after exiting its deal with GM. Likewise, Nissan and Mitsubishi are both struggling to find a foothold in the US, with the former’s operating profits sinking roughly 99 percent in the US last quarter. Americans just aren’t buying Nissans like they used to, and the company’s failures to introduce any hybrids in what is clearly a very hybrid-friendly market is also slowing things down. It’s not clear what Mitsubishi really brings to the table. The brand has also struggled to introduce any long-range EVs, but that isn’t unique to Japan’s auto industry. The plug-in hybrid Outlander has had some success but isn’t exactly a runaway hit. In other news, Nissan and Honda are adding another goalpost for their partnership: developing a so-called software-defined vehicle. The two companies say they will conclude research into new technologies, with the goal of moving to mass production in a year’s time. Honda and Nissan will also work together on batteries, electric motors, and a new product review system to encourage “mutual vehicle complementation.” Speeding up the process in which many other companies already have a steady lead seems to be the name of the game here. Nissan already has outlined its plans to electrify 16 of the 30 vehicles it produces by 2026, seven of which for the North American market. And it’s making progress on its solid-state battery plans. The EV market has already saturated the "early adopters" of the public. As someone else stated the segment of the buying public that EVs made sense for in terms of convenience is largely saturated as well (more growth to be had there daily). Toyota has not changed their approach to getting mobility solutions to market. They listen to the consumers and develop the product that the consumer wants. To date, a large part of the EV growth was due to Government and policy decisions - not necessarily consumer driven. That approach has worked well so far.

⚡Tesla dominates European #EV market in February - A total of 202,542 EVs took to the road in Europe during February, recording a growth of 10% year on year. - This meant battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) accounted for 20% of deliveries in the overall market in February and the year-to-date. - BEVs achieved a 13% share of all passenger-car registrations during the month. The powertrain saw deliveries rise 10% year on year, despite a lack of mass-market EVs. Models that may help boost the sector, such as the Renault 5 and Citroen e-C3, are not yet available in Europe. - Additionally, many markets are still suffering from the ending of incentives. The negative incentive impact is expected to ease in the second quarter of 2024. - However, significant BEV growth is not predicted until the second half of the year. - Elsewhere, PHEVs registrations increased 9% year on year. Meanwhile, hybrids (including full and mild powertrains) enjoyed a surge of 24%. The technology accounted for 29% of all new-car registrations in February, meaning almost half of the European market is now electrified. - EV and hybrid growth has come at the expense of diesel, which endured a delivery drop of 5% compared to one year ago, holding 12% of the market. This contrasts with its 50% share in 2015. - Once again, the #Tesla Model Y was the best-selling EV in Europe, thanks to its 19,946 registrations in February. The mid-size crossover is expected to post similar results in the next few quarters, although it is not predicted to significantly improve on current volumes.
