Don't give up just because your progress seems slow during the first 1-4 months. Key points to keep in mind: 🚀 BEGINNING: Typically, it takes around 3 to 5 months to gain traction and hit 5-10k views per post. 💪 MOTIVATION: Motivation can be like a rollercoaster. Rely on your inner drive to keep moving forward. ⚔️ COMPARISON: Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on your progress from a few months ago. Everyone's journey is different. 💻 ANALYTICS: Regularly assess your performance and establish KPIs to stay on track. Utilize Shield. Though it may take time, the payoff is worth it. This is a game of patience and persistence, leading to lasting rewards.

My typical day in Growth: 1. Wake up at 00:30 with an idea 2. Scribble notes on phone for tomorrow 3. Spend 16 min rolling around in bed 4. Too many ideas. Write more notes on phone 5. Wake up (feeling completely unrested) 6. Read notes. Complete and utter gibberish 7. Realize it must have been late-night delusion 8. Get 5 minutes of work done 9. CEO: "Why are metrics down?" 10. Spend 1 hour looking into the numbers 11. Heavily question career & life choices 12. Some metrics are down... only 0.6% 13. Message CEO: "It's just a bad week" 14. Spend 1 hour getting back on track 15. Try desperately to get some work done 16. Pray that no one has any questions for me 17. Someone: "Max, we have an emergency" 18. Fix emergency (Spoiler: Not an emergency) 19. Finish work. Hope it's a Friday 20. It's not. It's Tuesday. RIP 20. Spend all evening thinking I forgot something 21. Fall asleep at 11pm Repeat ♻️

Making a major career change isn't starting over. It's refocusing. We bring all our considerable skills and experience with us. Every bit of personal growth, wisdom, learnings...our soft skills...it all conveys. Those things are transferable and they have value. I was at my last company for over ten years. During that time I supported customer success, product, strategy, M&A, operations, analytics, digital, PMO, revenue ops, and (of course) marketing. I bring every lesson learned, every leadership skill unlocked, every business transformation win - every single one of my superpowers with me into my "what's next". Even those things that may not be obviously relevant. Even if the "what's next" is outside my comfort zone. I'm not starting from zero. None of us are. Don't convince yourself that your refocusing is a start over. It's not. It's a continuation. It's growth. When companies refocus or refine their offerings, it's understood that shift is in the service of growth in line with goals. The same is true for professional development. I hope this is helpful. Which is why you need to ask this question. “If I do this, what will I have to stop doing?” A first-order thinker loves opportunity. Shiny new syndrome is a very real and present danger It means: -Forgetting long term goals - Ignoring progress - Avoiding reality You don’t stop to think about what you stand to lose. Your only thought is the gain. But when you ask: “If I do this, what will I have to stop doing?” second-order effects become clear. - Consequences appear - You question the value of the opportunity - Opportunities are checked for long term goal alignment In the creator economy this is very relevant. New opportunities appear frequently in the fight for attention. But those who win are the ones playing the long game. They aren’t distracted by the algorithm changes.
