Good job Stephen Smith for defending single stair housing, at this grueling one-hour hearing in Orlando. We knew it would be an uphill shot to pass on the first round. This is not the end. The old adage teaches "an empty vessel makes the most noise." As expected, many came with sob stories about how tragic fires are. Not one brought data. Bigger buildings with more staircases are not safer than dividing the same area into smaller buildings, capping the height, using fire resistant materials, and adding more stairway smoke protection. This is not fire safety vs housing. Rather, the question is why US codes (at least prescriptively) continue to prohibit a solution that has been shown to deliver lower overall deaths.

Hydraulic shock or #waterhammer is a phenomenon in water systems that is known to commonly occur when a valve sudden closes at the end of a pipeline, causing a surge of pressure throughout. A common solution to this issue is to install a #shockarrestor, something that features as part of the recently introduced MasterFlow vessel range.
Be sure to check out the full range, including vessels for heating and water systems
