Chelsea Ryckis had a great post yesterday about asking your Broker/Consultant, the right questions. It was also about preparing for the unknowns (i.e. expected and unexpected). 🤔 It immediately reminded me of this moment in history during the Gulf War when Don Rumsfeld was asked about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. The quote was: "As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. At Siem Car Carriers we realised years ago that, going forward, our vessels will be trading at less than design power. Amongst several other projects, we asked Houlder Limited to study the already ultra-efficient Siem Curie and Siem Copernicus and check if the bow bulb, post-swirl stator, and other "wet" aspects were optimised for the lower power regimes, and what gains we would get from ultra-high-spec paints.
