REMEMBER A CHARITY WEEK is an opportunity for everyone to take a moment to consider leaving a gift to charity in their Will, after looking after family and friends. For most people, a charity will touch your life at some point. Whether it’s mental health support, saving lives or rescuing abandoned animals, charities play a fundamental role in driving positive, lasting change. Charities are there for all of us when we need it most. One of the most profound ways you can support charities long into the future is to leave them gift in your Will. Simply put, charities rely on gifts in Wills to continue their work. Wednesday 31st January marked the end of our Wild & Free Dip a Day Campaign 2024, where together with some strong minded members of our Wild Tribe, we dipped a day for 31 days in the sea, lakes or an ice bath to help our own wellbeing, and at the same time to raise money for our 3 amazing charities, Pieta Samaritans and AWARE NI who will equally gain from our fundraising efforts. Wild & Free will donate £5 for every single dip that took place where the person posted, and then all of our wider community have all been giving what they can to ensure that we can support these wonderful charities as much as possible. We learned so much personally, as a community and as a busines through our challenge that we will take into 2024: 1: We can do hard things 2: Pain and Difficult feelings will pass 2: We can make new habits by making them non negotiables in our daily routines 3: The power of your tribe and community makes you unstoppable 4: Cold Water Immersion is like a surge of energy and dopamine that truly powers your day. 5: Cold Water immersion certainly kept sickness at bay for those who dipped daily, in a month when it was hard to avoid 6: Starting the day in nature, embracing the elements is like a mindfulness, grounding and cold water therapy session all rolled into one, so powerful - We may not keep dipping every day, but we will certainly try to dip most days, as the benefits are too significant not to. 7: Doing something for a purpose, a greater good needs to be there to keep the discipline up when the motivation is not there, which when we met Storm Isha and Jocelyn and the snow and ice, was needed, believe me. I’ve never met more loyal people than those who work for charities. Work becomes your life and your family. However dysfunctional it can feel, you can end up loving your colleagues and what you’re trying to achieve fiercely. It can get to the point where you believe that just by thinking about leaving, even considering making a change, you’re letting them down. If you’re thinking of leaving the sector, you’re selling out. Here's the thing, if you take your hand out of water, the space fills up. Someone else will take your place, they’ll miss YOU, but someone else can do your job. Don’t let your loyalty keep you in a job that doesn’t work for you anymore.
