Our veterinarians never cease to amaze us!
I am excited to share that I will be pursuing a MSc in Animal Welfare and Behavior at Penn Vet starting this Fall (virtually). I guess I can finally call myself a PennWee :)

📣 Attention to those within the veterinary and animal welfare realm, I need some feedback in terms of how you want to expand your continuing education and overall learning!: This semester has been rich, as I am en route to finishing up my first term in my animal law master’s program. The courses I took included: 1. Introduction to U.S Legal Studies 2. Animal Law Fundamentals 3. Crimes Against Animals Over the summer, the next ones on the docket include: 1. Food Animal Law 2. Animal Trial Advocacy However, as I am growing my library of speaking presentations that I give at conferences, I want to know what you are looking to learn more about?! This year, I have focused on mentorship, veterinarians in the policy realm, communication, and coaching, but I want to facilitate further discussions, based on the topics our professions are curious to learn more about. How can I marry some of them together? Please let me know in the comments some topics you are hungry for more of along with any new trends especially in the governmental or animal legal realm? I would love to bring them to you! 👩🏻💻✍️📚🗂️📋📨 #continuingeducation #government #policy #veterinarymedicine #animalwelfare #animallaw

Its Day 17 of my amazing #21DaysChallengeWithCoachBSO and its on Project Showcase A project I am really proud off is the ongoing COTOG Lecture Series with Life Stock Management Services (LMS) (LMCF) . COTOG Lecture series is a short series that is created to educate veterinarians and people interested in animal welfare on leadership, business and clinical areas. Its a series meant to educate them on something they might heard before or have not heard before. Impact of the educative series include: - Enhanced knowledge and skills for veterinarians and animal lovers. - Improved animal welfare through better leadership and business practices. - Fostering of a community passionate about animal care and education What I have learnt so far: - The importance of continuous learning and professional development in the veterinary field - Effective collaboration and partnership can lead to impactful projects - The value of sharing knowledge and expertise to uplift others This project has not only educated our audience but also inspired me to continue innovating and making a difference in animal welfare. I'm grateful for the experience and look forward to future collaborations! #ProjectShowcase #ProudMoment #WorkShowcase #ProjectManagement #ProfessionalGrowth #21DayChallengeWithCoachBSO

I spent Saturday discussing animal ethics with one of the leading philosophers in the field, Prof Gary Francione 🌱 What an absolute privilege to learn from the best, at University of Oxford, Department for Continuing Education 🤓 We talked about the solution of veganism, and how the animal welfare approach is falling short and failing to reduce suffering. Lots of (plant-based) food for thought! #veganism #animalwelfare #animalethics

The team at Animal World sat in for a session on animal behaviour conducted by a Dr Daphne Ang, clinical resident in Veterinary Behavior. Understanding animal behaviour in a medical setting is an essential aspect of providing them with the best possible care and ensuring their well-being. It helps in recognising what could be an underlying problem and what stems from fear and anxiety. We hope this Lunch & Learn session provided more insights into an animal’s world, their actions, reactions, and needs. #AnimalBehavior #VeterinaryEducation #AlwaysLearning

"Scientific uncertainty should not be referenced as justification to avoid adopting practices or making recommendations that mitigate animal suffering." Well said, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. There are things we do to some animals – like boiling lobsters alive or cutting off shrimps' eyestalks – that would simply be unimaginable to do to others. Adopting the Animal Sentience Precautionary Principle makes sense: if there's a possibility of causing harm but we can avoid it, then we should.
