On June 26, MACP and its partners [Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), Greentown Labs, Massachusetts Business Roundtable, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, Mass Mobility Hub, NECEC, The Engine Accelerator] had the pleasure of hosting a Competitiveness Conversation on "Massachusetts Climatetech Leading the Charge" featuring a panel of 4 climatetech CEOs sharing their experiences and insights on the industry in the commonwealth. We were honored to be joined by Hudson Gilmer, CEO of LineVision. A few key points of his included: 🧠💸📣Massachusetts is the best place to start a climate tech company, thanks to what Hudson calls the "three B's" – brains, bucks, and boosters. 🌱The Massachusetts climatetech ecosystem is robust and growing. Organizations like Greentown Labs, Clean Energy Ventures, and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center have laid a strong foundation, and with increased funding the ecosystem can thrive even more. 🗺️We would do well to learn from New York, including the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which provides a specific roadmap for achieving ambitious climate goals. Likewise, we would benefit from the level of funding that NYSERDA is investing into climatetech. 🏠 Additionally, addressing the high cost of living (particularly housing) is crucial to attracting and retaining the state's skilled workforce.
