This is going to sound crazy. Some of your most effective business development will feel like you’re doing someone else’s job. Hear me out. Forming great connections in your network involves doing things to provide value for others regardless of what’s immediately in it for you. This could be valuable introductions for them, could be useful info from your area of expertise regarding their business, etc. When you start making these types of value-giving activities a serious priority on a daily basis, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when people think of you if there’s work they can pay you to do instead of paying your competitor. Look for scalable ways to help out as many new people as you can. Right when you feel like you’re spending more time on this “value-giving” stuff versus running an airtight sales cadence, you’ll probably start to see new business come in from places you didn’t expect. #businessdevelopment #sales #networking #startup #fundraising #recruiter
