Photo: I took that photo, sunset at Durdle Door, Dorset, July 31st 2016. Words: Talking about the doors of opportunity. Doors! Durdle Door! Doors! (I don't mess about you know). It helps that I happen to believe this is true. Sometimes, opportunities comes to us totally out of the blue, and that can be great. Most of the time though, opportunities are *engineered* by us, by our actions. I talk about action being the key to so many things, and the fact that action is a choice of ours as individuals, that's why I think these keys to the doors of opportunity are already in our pocket - in other words, once we decide what we want in any of the key areas of life, we can work out what action to take, then take it! This will move us towards our goal, even if it takes us backwards, because a backward step is no more than a revelation of knowledge we need, or skill, or contacts, all of which are gained by, guess what, further action. This kind of pro-active action taking can then open us up to these occasional surprise opportunity openings, and if the random surprise ones don't appear, we carry on creating them ourselves. 💪

Job Hunt (Part 2) update - Looking for a new role can be a challenge, especially right now. When I decided to keep looking, it was clear I'd need to be more organized and leverage the fact that I am able to relocate if needed. I've sent out dozens of applications to 11 different cities this week and kept track of keywords used, where I applied, etc to make sure there's some method to the madness. I've had a couple responses from potential employers already which is reassuring. Being able to relocate is a very personal situation and different for everyone, but if able, this is definitely the job market where relocation should be considered and used as advantage. It will be exciting to see what the future holds, and part of what pushed me to being open to moving is the fact that Chicago is a rougher market for automotive jobs (unless you want to be a technician or work in service/sales.) Other markets, like Los Angeles, Phoenix and Seattle seem to be a bit better. So here's to Round 2 of the job hunt!

What is going on with the job market right now? 🫠 I know it’s becoming increasingly impossible to find a job atm given the recession and companies cutting down on budgets and staff For northerners it’s even harder because of the amount of people leaving London for cheaper living and oversaturating the job market up here All that being said, it’s still very shocking to me how jobs are just not getting back to people, not even for rejections But you know who DID get back to me? A job at Bella Italia I applied for 3 years ago when studying my masters in Cambridge How fortuitous ☝🏽🤓 thank you Bella Italia in Grafton, Cambridge. You’ve truly rekindled my hope and faith in the job market with your response to a 3 year old application! I’m still looking for a role in marketing, preferably Leeds or Liverpool as I want to relocate but keeping options open for Manchester and Sheffield too, if anyone can help, I’d greatly appreciate it! #marketing #jobhunting #openforwork #redundancy #digitalmarketing
