This week I will be saying goodbye to Walmart after a nearly 17 year career that has been nothing short of extraordinary. When I originally joined my plan was to work as a field recruiter for a year or two before transitioning into a field HR generalist role. I couldn’t have anticipated the incredible opportunity that would be afforded to me, only a few months in, to transition to a remote corporate recruiter role. As I grew my career and touched nearly every segment of a Fortune 1 company, the impact I was able to have was immeasurable and my growth in turn was exponentially influenced by both the challenges I faced and the successes I achieved as a remote associate. My last 5 years have been especially transformative as I moved into a leadership role and had the opportunity to build a world class TA delivery team. While we were spread throughout the country, together we built a team culture that modeled the best of Walmart's culture and displayed an excellence and pride in our work that truly set us apart. It's difficult to put into words how I helped to transform Walmart and how in turn Walmart helped to shape and transform me into a servant leader. I've included a few highlights below but I know they don't do justice to my time here. ⭐ Built and scaled a corporate and field TA delivery team from the ground up ⭐ Led a team of remote recruiters during a global pandemic ⭐ Facilitated the growth and acceleration of engineering automation and product management within our supply chain ⭐ Integral in standing up our first central fill pharmacy ⭐ Recruited the company's first lead antitrust counsel As I close this chapter, I have immense gratitude for the countless relationships I have built along the way. Learning from so many of you and being part of this remarkable team and community will always stay with me. It's always interesting seeing the first hire at CPG start-ups. I have seen finance, marketing, sales, and ops roles all be the first hires. If I was hiring someone today, I would hire a VP of Operations. Here are a couple reasons why: 🔨 Without a strong operations leader I don't believe it is possible to scale and maintain it. You may close some accounts but if you can't keep product on the shelf you can't sell. 🔗 I feel like operations isn't something you can learn from reading/watching. It seems to be one of the things you have to go through first hand to know how to really run it. 🗂 I can learn all of the other skills because of LinkedIn. There are plenty of great resources that drop dimes all day in the other categories that I can cherry pick from. Operations is a very rare topic, being talked about by very few. This is what I would do. If you were hiring your first ever employee today, what position would it be for? ✔

McDonald’s!!! One of the few companies out there that just the mention of it causes a visceral response: I hate that place! Gggggggrrrrross!! Or…love it…been going there for years! Great opportunities

People don’t leave companies. They leave bad managers. That’s it. That’s the post. No, that’s actually not the whole post. I actually haven’t left a job because of a bad manager. Below are the main reasons why I left each of my previous jobs: ✅ Walmart: Way too small town for me. There were good people, but I felt like Walmart dominated everything. I would ran into my boss at the grocery store. I ran into my cube mate at a Walmart. You were supposed to be careful what you say about Walmart in a public place like a restaurant, because they’re were probably Walmart people around. ✅ Ford: A lot of really good people, like Adam DeJans Jr. had left and it just became stale for me. ✅ NBCUniversal: Pay I have been fortunate to have mostly good bosses throughout my career. My current boss is also awesome! And that’s not just me sucking up in case he sees this 😅 What are the reasons why you have changed jobs in the past?
