You may have decided the message and the purpose of your charity film, but how do you decide who is going to tell their story? The truth is you don't have to decide straightaway and the storyteller may change as your project goes on anyways. 🤷 One thing we've learnt through charity filmmaking is to be flexible! Look at all of your charity stories from all angles and you can experiment with different interpretation’s of your message. This #FilmFriday we're highlighting Mind. 🎬 Mind Charity supports communities in England and Wales disproportionately affected by mental health issues, focusing on racialized communities, young people, and those living in poverty. This animation highlights Mind's commitment to encouraging these groups to get active and find community through sport. Animation is a great way to break down sensitive or complex topics such as mental health. It's also an effective way to bring attention to your charity through creating quite lighthearted and fun characters so traditionally taboo topics aren't so scary! As storytellers, we have to admit that we all come with our own bias' whether consiously or subconsciously, these can have an impact on the message of the story you create. So whats the solution? 🔎 1. Acknowledge and reflect on your own biases, identifying where they've come from. 🗣️ 2. Use inclusive language that challenges stereotypes. ❓ 3. Ask yourself whether your content promotes or challenges the existing status quo.

Thank you so much to every charity that applied to work with us on a free legacy fundraising film. We had over 100 charities apply and we are now working through our shortlist.
