The traditional approach to recruitment of sitting behind a desk and relying on emails and telephone conversations to generate business is just not for me. As much as emails and phone calls are a large part of my role at the outset of discovering a new candidate or client, I find it far more beneficial to extend an invitation for coffee or lunch. Putting a name to a face is important to me but it also supports me in understanding what truly makes someone tick. I can gather information well on a phone call, but in a relaxed environment with a coffee in hand both myself and my client can talk about the nitty gritty of their situation. It generates stronger relationships, better foundations of trust and most of all it demonstrates my commitment to do the best job I can for the person sat across from me.
