As a frequent reader to Pharmaceutical Engineering Magazine, it's a pleasure to see them go back and select the best of the best articles.
The winning article "Measuring Pharma’s Adoption of Industry 4.0" does a good job of comparing the pharma industry to other industries, coming up with the conclusion that although delays in adoption of new technologies are real, it should not be the lengthy ordeal that it is considered right now.
Industry 4.0. or as some calls it Fourth Industrial Revolution, is taking the biopharma industry by the storm, but beyond very clustered applications, wider implementation of new hardware and software has been slow. But as we see in our industry time and again, it doesn't have to be lengthy, especially in manufacturing suites, where the process is not constantly changing.
