Emotional Support Background Noise (ESBN) is a chaotic, comedy podcast formed in 2023 by two certified freaks: Lucy from Essex (UK), and Adrienne from California. Each week they interview a feature guest, play needlessly inappropriate games and have off-piste discussion topics. Why not. Adrienne (Legohead!) and Lucy (otherwise known as Bristo) are two transatlantic besties who met at Kent Uni in 2012, where they made a very characteristically impulsive decision to book an entire summer together- which they could not afford just FYI- in Greece. This was absolutely not related to their raging undiagnosed adult ADHD, or running away from their many problems at the time! Now a lot older, although pretty much not even remotely one bit wiser, they bring to you ESBN, their podcast baby. Through the pod, they wanted to use their friendship, support, and empathy, as well as ability to chat absolute shit on pretty much any topic to: 1. Share, learn and bring to you the hyperfixations and passions of other neurospicy people, or those who identify as weird! 2. Talk about and share their own experiences of living with mental illness and neurodiversity. 3. Break stereotypes, as well as reduce shame and feelings of isolation surrounding “lived experience” issues, which many of us, including the hosts themselves, have experienced and just don’t talk about. 4. Support and promote diversity and human rights- every life is important. Oh yeah. And did we mention have a fucking laugh to connect with others while doing it?! Adrienne and Lucy’s ethos is that the shit they’ve been through is what makes them funny, and their inappropriate humour helps them (and hopefully you!) through the constant bullshit of adult life. Please join the gang and their feature guest every Wednesday at 8am UK time (or midnight PST) for what can only be described as a pod that swings wildly in and out of the window of tolerance every single episode. Good luck! And from Adrienne and Lucy: thanks for supporting the podcast! We love and appreciate every one of you xxx

Experiencing pure positive affects - Interest-excitement & enjoyment-joy are positive affects that we experience and show in their purest form when we are babies. Pure affects are only observed in babies because they have not yet reached the stage where they have memory recall. When our memory influences and informs our affects, we start having impure affects. Embracing Vulnerability: Breaking the Stereotype of Masculinity The Bro Code Show Guest: Iamjiaani Many males have traditionally been challenged when it comes to being vulnerable with their emotions and feelings. Society has often placed expectations on men to be numb and emotionally reserved, which can be detrimental to their mental health and relationships. However, there is a growing recognition of the importance of encouraging men to express their emotions and seek support when needed. Embracing vulnerability can lead to stronger connections with others, improved emotional well-being, and a more inclusive and empathetic society. It's a positive shift that promotes healthier, more authentic expressions of masculinity. One of my favourite movies to discuss in the Movie Health podcast was Inside Out 2, an extremely successful, popular and insightful film that so many of us relate to, and which emotionally resonates with our individual experiences. Heather Hoagland has been a guest several times now on the podcast (with another ep coming out about couples therapy to watch out for!), and she's a fellow Social Worker & Cinematherapist who focuses on work with adults who experience issues with anxiety, trauma and communication. I always love speaking with her because of her enthusiasm, extensive knowledge, sense of humour, and mutual love of film. https://lnkd.in/ggEguEPi In this episode, we talk about the necessity of self-compassion and kindness, of how Inside Out 2 personifies a multitude of human emotions very well, including the representation of a panic attack, understanding of cognitive distortions, the significance and relevance of the vagus nerve, and how suppressing emotions is harmful. I had also done a fantastic relational-integrative EMDR session with Amy English the same week, which I recommend to anyone 😊 To normalise the variety of emotions we talk about in this episode, I want to confess that I was feeling all sorts of emotions on the Friday morning we recorded. I was feeling lethargy, sadness, grief, and anxiety that day, after a very difficult week emotionally and psychologically. We need to universalise the complexity of emotions we experience as people, as adults, teenagers, children, clinicians, and professionals in all industries. This is to also remember our profound capacity for joy, even in the most challenging of times. Here is an article about how the modality of cinematherapy has supported someone's healing: https://lnkd.in/gW8PKUnH 🟣 #insideout2 #moviesformentalhealth #moviehealth #selfcompassion #radicalkindness #humancondition #mentalhealthpodcast
