📢 Join me in taking action for civil rights and racial justice with the YW Boston Advocacy Committee! 🌟 "YW Boston, is committed to eliminating racism and empowering women, and that means advocating for diverse and equitable leadership in our organizations and government. We stand against discriminatory practices that oppress people of color, women, and women of color in the Commonwealth. Our Advocacy Committee is dedicated to supporting legislation and working with coalitions to address systemic racism in our educational and judicial systems, particularly as it affects young girls and women of color. The intersectionality of gender and race is often overlooked in public policy, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only worsened these disparities. Here are some of the key issues we're focusing on and the state-wide legislation we support: 📜 Civil Rights and Racial Justice: Public Bank Bill - An Act to Establish a Massachusetts Public Bank Campaign for Size Freedom - An Act prohibiting body size discrimination Baby Bonds - An Act Addressing the Racial Wealth Gap 🚺 Gender Equity: Wage Equity Now The I AM Bill - An Act to increase access to disposable menstrual products in prisons, homeless shelters, and public schools Protected at Work - An Act Relative to Employment Protections for Victims of Abusive Behavior 💼 Parity on Board: We're leading the Parity on Board coalition to promote equitable leadership in Massachusetts. Learn more about our campaign at www.parityonboard.org. You can make a difference by supporting any or all of these bills! Reach out to your state legislators and urge them to take action. Ohio's HB 68 sets a dangerous precedent for rescinding the medical rights of Ohioans. The bill also regulates collegiate sports, forcing the hand of Ohio's public and private universities. This bill is an attempt to score political points at the cost of the well-being of Ohioans. If you care about inclusivity, medical rights, and education in Ohio, please follow the link provided in this post to encourage a veto on this bill. #education #college #athletics #inclusivity #ohio #lgbtq
Ohio’s HB 68 will ban gender-affirming care for trans youth as well as restrict trans youth from participating in school sports that align with their identity. The message to trans youth and their families is clear: You are not welcome in Ohio. Tell Governor Mike DeWine to listen to a majority of Ohioans by vetoing HB 68 to protect trans youth: hrc.im/hb68
