This collaboration combines the strengths of these companies in stack technology, system engineering, and production. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed, with a full agreement expected by June 2024. The goal is to scale up production and reduce costs, contributing to industrial #decarbonization and the net-zero target by 2050. SolydEra’s efficient stack technology, Bosal’s engineering systems, and VDL’s manufacturing expertise are key to this effort. Constellium is moving towards industrial testing of hydrogen utilization in our casthouses, marking a significant step in our commitment to decarbonizing our operations. Recycling and casting are the most energy-intensive operations and represent close to 50% of Constellium’s direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Building upon successful laboratory-scale trials conducted in 2022, our C-TEC R&D center was able to demonstrate that transitioning from natural gas to hydrogen has no adverse effects on energy efficiency, oxidation rate, or product quality, with a focus on ensuring safe operations. MAIRE has announced that NEXTCHEM (Sustainable Technology Solutions), through its subsidiary NextChem Tech, has signed a binding agreement to acquire 80% of HyDEP S.r.l. and 100% of Dragoni Group S.r.l. Both Italian based, HyDEP and Dragoni Group are well-recognised engineering services companies in the mechanical and electrochemical sectors with strong process design expertise and a track record of over 20 years in green hydrogen, including patents. Range of services spans from process and mechanical design to validation, prototyping, and certification. Mario and Matteo Dragoni, Founders and current Shareholders of both entities, will remain involved in the management of the companies, which will continue to operate independently in their respective markets. The purchase price for the two stakes is approximately €3.6 million. The agreement provides also an earn-out clause based on the achievement of technical objectives within 30 months from closing, as well as put and call options on the remaining 20% stake in HyDEP exercisable within 36 months from closing. The US Department of Energy (#DOE) is hoping Argonne Nat’l Lab’s extensive fuel cell research experience, which dates back to 1996, will give it unique insights as it evaluates new polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems ranging from 150 to 600 kilowatts for use in industrial vehicle and stationary power generation applications. Topsoe, the Denmark-based specialist company in carbon emission reduction technologies, has announced its plan to build a factory in Virginia, USA to manufacture energy-efficient Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cells (SOEC). The factory will receive nearly $136 million in federal tax credits. The investment is expected to create over 1,000 indirect jobs and at least 150 direct jobs in Virginia. With a planned capacity of over 1 GW, the factory's output of electrolyzer stacks will enable an annual greenhouse gas emission avoidance of up to 2 million tonnes CO2e.
