Exciting news for the U.S. battery supply chain! 🔋 The Biden administration has offered a conditional $1.2 billion loan to Entek Lithium Separators to support the financing of a $1.5 billion lithium-ion battery separator factory in Terre Haute, Indiana. This is a significant step in boosting U.S. electric vehicle (EV) and battery production. Since the IRA, investments in the EV and battery sector have surged, with Entek aiming to expand its production capacity to meet the growing demand. This initiative is part of the broader strategy to strengthen domestic battery material and component production, reduce reliance on foreign supply chains, and enhance U.S. economic competitiveness and job growth. The Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office has been instrumental in backing various projects within the EV supply chain, further solidifying the U.S. position in the clean energy sector.
