On the other hand, CUF is commonly used for renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind. For instance, solar PV has a CUF of 16-22%, while wind ranges from 27-40%. Yesterday, we attended the GENERA fair, held in Madrid. It was a great opportunity to see some of the the renewable energy innovations. We joined the XVI Solar thermal Energy Congress organized by ASIT-SOLAR. Mr. Oleguer Fuertes, ASIT president, made a short description of the actual situation of the #solarthermal sector. Some of the points he mentioned were: - Solar thermal energy is a great solution in the descarbonization process we are facing nowadays. It has better efficiency in comparison to photovoltaics. - The government should also promote more solar thermal energy, as he does with the photovoltaics. Some funding would help in making it more popular. - Building Renewable enery applications can hybridize solar thermal energy with heat pumps. Then, cooling and heating energies can be produced efficiently. - Solar thermal energy has lower CO2 emissions and easier raw material recyclability than photovoltaics energy. - The solar thermal installations should have a maintenance plan (IDAE. Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía has already published some guidelines on how to implement these plans). - More successful solar thermal energy case studies should be communicated to attract the attention of the industrial sector.
