𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗮’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 Reflecting on my journey at Agra, I remember the year 2003 when I joined Agra Co-operative. At that time our business ran at a gross profit margin of 12.5%, and Agra was hanging on the edge of survival, making zero to very little in nett profit. The culture was one where inefficiencies thrived and customer service was almost non-existent, and the result of this meant that Agra’s outlook was grim – marked by a negative clientele, low employee morale and a tarnished reputation. Since then, we have made a conscious decision to sustainably grow our business and expand our business and not to focus on increasing the gross profit margin. Instead, we chose to focus on improving efficiencies and productivity with a strong focus on working capital management, proper stock control and being competitive in the industry, all whilst creating a better customer experience. We also expanded our business by diversifying beyond agriculture, thereby increasing our client base.
