Property and construction news…..   West Midlands mayor Andy Street has revealed plans to launch an international architecture competition to design a bridge that would link Birmingham’s Colmore district with the Jewellery Quarter.     Davidson Estates is planning to make a number of acquisitions with the first being Arkade Property in an undisclosed deal. Eight staff from Arkade will join the Davidson group.   First time buyers have accounted for 33% of UK homeowners so far this year (compared to 29% last year) according to property firm Hamptons. The company found that 51% of buyers purchased a one or two-bedroom home.   According to Zoopla, house owners are reducing their asking price by up to £10k to achieve a sale. The average discount across the UK is 3.9% with discounts being higher in London and the South East regions. House sales are up by 7% on the same period last year.   House prices fell by 1% in March according to Halifax. It is the first time in six months that there has been a fall. The average price of a home is £288,430 - still higher than the same time last year.   #property #construction #housing #business
