Congratulations to the thirteen researchers selected for the Fiscal Year 2025 Facilities Integrating Collaborations for User Science (FICUS) program call awards! Awarded principal investigators and their research teams will receive access to instrumentation, resources, and expertise at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), Joint Genome Institute, and the ARM User Facility facility, which are U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science's Biological and Environmental Research program user facilities. Additionally, the awarded projects have access to the Bio-SANS beamline through the Center for Structural Molecular Biology at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the eBERlight program offered by the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory. The portal allows users to upload upload nuclear magnetic resonance metabolomics, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (MS) metabolomics and liquid chromatography-MS metabolomics and lipidomics, liquid chromatography-MS proteomics, and RNA-sequence transcriptomics data for exploration. Postdoc position open at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL): Come work alongside mass spectrometry imaging experts like Dusan Velickovic. This candidate will develop and utilize bleeding-edge matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization and laser ablation electrospray ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) instrumentation and methods. Emphasis will be focused on utilizing EMSL’s multiple high resolution MSI instruments for elucidating complex processes, including soil microbiome interactions and plant cellular biology. The candidate will be responsible for developing and creating unique methodologies that take advantage of the new MSI tools coming online in EMSL. The candidate is expected to participate in advancement and development of the ever-expanding spatial omics suite.
