It has been a pleasure to see our AmbitioUS fellow, Nyia Hawkins, join our work, get inspired, soak up all the learnings like a sponge, and produce this workshop during her time with us. Some of the most memorable moments with Nyia have been hearing about her career trajectory and attending the Assembly of Black Possibilities with her, where I found so much amazing community doing the work to learn and unlearn these capitalist systems we're trying to find healing, regeneration, and full free futures in. Coming from historically extracted from communities who've been seen solely as labor to make the rich richer, money has been a charged subject for me. So seeing her produce a workshop like, participatory investing 101, brings me so much joy to make these subjects accessible to people outside of the sector, new to it, or are curious about it. Second day of the Sorenson Impact Summit and we are diving deep into outcomes-based financing with a panel discussion on "Lessons from the Front Lines: A Decade in Outcomes-based Financing." This session was packed with insights and reflections on the transformative journey of outcomes-based financing over the past decade. Our panel of experts—Andi Phillips, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Community Outcomes Fund, Maycomb Capital; Jeffrey Cyr, Founder & Managing Partner, Raven Indigenous Outcomes Funds; and our very own Janis Dubno, MBA, Managing Director, Impact Finance, Sorenson Impact Institute—who have been at the forefront of this movement, shared their experiences and lessons learned. They offered a comprehensive look at the successes and obstacles in this field, providing actionable insights for both seasoned professionals and those new to the concept.
