This conversation was 🔥 In our most recent #PerspectiveSeries, we celebrated Black History Month with a panel of Black leaders spanning industries from music to luxury goods. Their unique career experiences inspired a dynamic conversation on how companies can embrace a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Highlights include: ◾ "For us to grow, there has to be some discomfort." - Shaquanda Reese, MBA ◾ "Representation is so important. You can't be what you can't see. - Corey Smith ◾ "You can transform an organization by centering the voices of folks of color." - Devrae Hudson ◾ "Branding is the biggest access point to reach people. If you want to influence people, you have to be a part of the conversation." - Damien Escobar Our team was challenged and inspired by this conversation. Thank you, Shaquanda, Corey, Devrae, and Damien! Learn more about Elevate, our best-in-class leadership and development program, and the #PerspectiveSeries: https://bit.ly/3Ihwod4

🌟 Did you know leadership can be a powerful tool in dismantling racism? 🌟 This Black History Month, let's shine a light on the imperative role leaders play in advocating for equity and justice within their industries. Leaders, it's time to turn introspection into action. Start by diagnosing your organization's internal environment. Utilize analytics to ensure your diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) strategies are rooted in evidence. Align these strategies with your business objectives, making equity and justice a core part of your organization's DNA. But let's not stop there. Engage with your community and stand up for social justice values. Whether it's through education, policy initiatives, or bold leadership actions, every step taken is a step toward a more equitable future. 👉 Here's a tip: Identify and support race equity champions within your organization. Encourage these leaders to use their voices to foster a culture of inclusivity and fairness. 🚀 Action Step: Conduct a DEI focus group this month. Listen, learn, and strategize on how to make your workplace more inclusive. Let's use our platforms to advocate for change, not just this month, but every day. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change. #LeadersForJustice #EquityInAction #BlackHistoryMonth

As we round out Black History Month this week, I've been busy prepping with organizations for my last couple of appearances--every T crossed, every I dotted so that these experiences deliver on the desired results and everyone comes away feeling inspired and having learned something new. This made me think a bit, and it spurred a thought: As Black leaders, we get called on tremendously during this time in February, and if you are a Black woman leader, you are likely highly engaged in this type of programming March whether you are paid to do it as I am or you're doing so as an extended part of your role as a corporate executive. ✅ What are you doing between these events to ensure that you're a future maker for leaders like you and others? ✅ What is your impact on tomorrow? ✅ What will be your contribution and legacy beyond February and March...beyond your days on this earth? Crack open your journal, really think through these questions and answer them thoughtfully. #leadershipdevelopment #speakersofinstagram #blackleaders #womenleaders #yespleasebook📗

(I just like the number 10. 😊) So, here's where you come in... 1️⃣ Follow or connect with those on my list that you may not yet know. 2️⃣ Share and tag a few of the Black influencers in HR, Leadership, and DEIB that influence YOU in the comments below. the L E A D E R S | Role Leaders, the impact we have on creating an inclusive environment can transform the fabric of our teams, fostering innovation, respect, and unity. 🌟 In our journey toward inclusivity, reflection is key. Here are three reflection questions to guide us in nurturing a culture that embraces diversity at every level: 💡 How am I actively listening to diverse voices within my team? Consider whether you're creating spaces for all voices to be heard, especially those that might historically be marginalized. An INVITATION in every meeting is important. 💡 In what ways am I empowering individuals from different backgrounds to share their stories and insights? Reflect on the platforms and opportunities you're providing for diverse perspectives to shine. Creating SPACE for connection is critical. 💡 How am I acknowledging and integrating the significance of Black History Month into our team's culture? This month offers a powerful opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black individuals. Consider how you're incorporating this into your team's learning and development initiatives. Don't let FEAR of not doing it right stop you. Act and learn. As leaders, our ACTIONS and reflections SET the TONE for an inclusive culture. Let's embrace this role with COMMITMENT, empathy, and a genuine desire to understand and celebrate the rich tapestry of humanity within our teams. Please share what you do to bring this VITAL aspect of leadership into your environment or space? We can learn from one another! 🙌 #Leadership #Inclusion #ReflectionForGrowth

In a world calling for justice and equality, how are we, as leaders, stepping up to the challenge? 🌟 This Black History Month, our focus is on the transformative power of anti-racist leadership. It's not just about making statements but about setting concrete goals that reflect our commitment to change. 🌱 Leadership is not a title but a series of actions driven by values and vision. In the spirit of growth and learning, it's essential for leaders to introspect, set personal anti-racism goals, and actively seek resources to broaden their understanding. From revising organizational policies to ensure equity to fostering environments where diverse voices are not just heard but acted upon, every step counts. 🚀 Embarking on this journey begins with education—immersing ourselves in literature and resources that challenge and expand our worldview. It's about creating spaces in our networks and communities for open, honest conversations about race, equity, and inclusion. This is how we build a legacy of leadership that truly makes a difference. 📖✨ This week, I challenge myself and each of you to identify one actionable anti-racism goal within your sphere of influence. Let’s share these commitments and hold each other accountable. How will you use your leadership to drive real change? #LeadByExample #AntiRacistLeadership #BlackHistoryMonth #InclusiveExcellence #ChangeMakers
