I've spoken to 30+ employers in the last 90 days and the ONE skill-gap they've all identified is RESILIENCE. This week I delivered a workshop to a group of THE most resilient young people I've ever met as part of GoodWork's onboarding programme. Some were care leavers, homeless, victims of domestic violence and all from low income backgrounds. These young people have gone through SO much and are living and breathing examples of true resilience... Yet are locked out of certain industries because due to no fault of their own don't have a degree or A-Levels. Resilience is a skill that's taught from life experience's not grades Don't be that employer that throws the words social mobility and D&I around but isn't willing to actually do the work or make a change. Really enjoyed attending another informative event from our #EDI committee today on the importance of #allyship which was expertly lead by our #Pride Champion Stacey Reay and guest speaker Elliott Pentland-Middleton. Key takeaways:- 👉Allyship is most effective when modelled from the top down 👉Educate yourselves and your managers to enable them to fully support employees-training is key. 👉Challenge your own bias. We are all human and make mistakes but be willing to question and learn. 👉 Allyship can take many forms… from listening to lived experiences and challenges to celebrating Pride events and advocating on others behalf. All of these actions can help support and advance real change. #EDI #Pride #diversityandinclusion

Special Post today: Celebrating St. David's Day to all my fellow Welsh people all over the world. St. David's last message before he died is one that totally floored me when I found out about it. OK, so it may not be scientifically proven to be true, but it will do for me. It's a message that speaks to 4 elements of Mental Fitness for a modern age and also the framework I am so proud to have created 11 years ago - which also has a Welsh connection: The Dilyn WayTM Framework. Dilyn is Welsh for To Follow. A call to leaders to become role models of their best selves to encourage others to follow their unique path to develop their best selves also - all within the context of the modern world. Back to St. David's spooky last words and my work: "Be Joyful, Keep the Faith, Do the Small things you heard and saw me do." Be Joyful - Being Positive (not the toxic kind btw) as a strength Keep the Faith - Have a clear purpose and champion HOPE Do the Small things - Small is the secret to lasting change You heard and saw me do - Be a role model for others to follow their best path and thrive into the future. Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. Its official designation as a federal holiday in 2021 was a long-overdue recognition of the terror experienced by Black Americans and of the freedom denied to them for hundreds of years. It’s also a day to celebrate progress and reinvigorate our advocacy against systemic racism and bias in all forms. Today, let's celebrate the progress we’ve made and continue to support one another as we strive for a more inclusive future. Whether through allyship, sponsorship, mentorship, or partnership, we all have an opportunity to uplift colleagues, include new people, and advance equity. In honor of Juneteenth, Aicha Evans, CEO of Zoox and the first Black woman on SAP's Supervisory Board, joined SAP’s Black Employee Network for a discussion on innovation, leadership, and the future of mobility.
