Do you know what our answer to less than 2.8% of VC funding going to women (and 0% to Black women)? Crowd 👏 funding 👏 I will not waste another second counseling female founders on how to make a room full of straight white men interested in their products, services or solutions. I'm tired. Tired of watching women ... ... dance for cap table that looks nothing like us ... explain, repeatedly and relentlessly, why we matter ... share all the statistics that support investing in women, to no action ... see so very little of our 85% of consumer buying power spent on us ... self-fund their dreams Ladies, they are not coming to save us. They're also *not* coming to fund us. The system doesn't want us to challenge it, change it or profit from it. So, per usual, let's go take care of this ourselves. Yesterday, Bridgette Washington launched her GoFundMe for her company RaveVenn -- a free social media app that empowers and engages young adults to make better informed decisions that will ultimately preserve our democracy. (This photo is a candid moment of Bridgette and me at our 22nd Fairway Dinner in Chicago, captured by the brilliant Lena Jackson.) When Bridgette shared what she's building with our room of powerhouse women, the applause (and "yassssssss!" screams) were deafening. Mark my words, this app will be on all of our phones before the summer ends ... and across all media platforms celebrating it for its brilliance before the election. Thanks to those of you who took action to invest, Bridgette is on her way to bringing her vision to life: ... Fiona Simpson, CAPM ... Katherine Vawter ... J Lewis ... Denise R. Green 🧠 ... Carrie Monroe O'Keefe ... Dorothy Harris ... Tehya Kopp Thank you for investing in Black women. They continue to save our democracy. We owe them ... everything. *This* is what our LinkedIn community is all about. I've invested $111 — in honor of Hype Women Day: 1.11. I invite you to join us in investing in women whose mission-driven work continues to make the world a better, safe, more equitable place for all. Don't wait. GoFundHer. ... and her ... and her ... and her #HypeWomen #invest #femalefounders #entrepreneur #growth #GoFundHer
