The Türkiye Wealth Fund (TWF), the Republic’s sovereign wealth fund, closed its first-ever international Islamic financing transaction: a banking facility agreement with a UAE bank. 🌍 Cbonds is excited to introduce the latest edition of our Sukuk Report, a statistical analysis of global sukuk issuances. In 2023, Saudi Arabia is poised to lead in terms of the volume of placed sukuk bonds. The volume of new issue placements experienced a slight decline towards the end of the year, having reached new highs in the summer of 2023. Corporate sukuk issues, in particular, saw a significant increase in their share, rising from 24% in 2022 to 40% in 2023. The past month saw a spate of Sukuk issuances come out of the GCC, notably a landmark facility from the UAE’s real estate and property sector, Saudi Arabia’s first savings Sukuk issuance and the first perpetual Sukuk in the region. The Islamic asset management sector welcomed a few new funds, including one from the Netherlands and another from Canada.
