In Batumi, Georgia, during 'Exercise Agile Spirit 23', global military collaboration was on display. Georgian Special Operations Forces converged with the U.S. Army 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) to meticulously plan and execute infiltration and exfiltration strategies. This wasn't an isolated endeavor. Adding depth to the exercise was a night raid scenario undertaken by special forces from Georgia, Romania, the U.S. Army Green Berets, and the U.S. Marines' Force Reconnaissance. Such exercises are a testament to the continuous drive towards enhancing regional stability and security. They highlight the significance of readiness, strengthening capabilities among partners, and nurturing trust. In these moments of bilateral and multilateral training, we witness firsthand the benefits of interoperability between the U.S. special operations forces and international allies. Recently, military personnel from the Land Forces and the Air Force participated in the international exercise named FalconLeap. During this period, approximately 800 parachutists from 12 different countries were active, including troops from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Greece. In today's geopolitical landscape, the ability to respond quickly, effectively, and in a coordinated manner plays a pivotal role. Paratroopers, often referred to as 'airborne infantry', are vital due to their capacity for deep infiltration and securing strategic positions on the battlefield. FalconLeap is not just an exercise, but a testament to the interoperability among different armed forces, jointly ensuring international safety and stability. Such operations bolster collaboration, refine tactics, and ensure that these elite units are always prepared for tomorrow's challenges. Special-operations forces have been a centerpiece of US military operations for two decades.
 As the US focuses on competition with China, those forces will take on a new set of missions.
 US leaders should remember that special operators aren't suited for some tasks, one expert says. For two decades, US policymakers have relied on special-operations forces to tackle the hardest missions. And for a good reason: US special-operations units have a history of achieving outcomes on the battlefield out of proportion to their relatively small size and budget. But in an era of strategic competition with China, there are some missions with no special-ops "easy button," according to David Ucko, a professor and expert on irregular warfare. Note: In the ‘80s during the post Vietnam “big war” focus, that was very mechanized, there were significant questions in the Marine Corps about how to employ the highly trained/skilled amphibious reconnaissance units. That continued into Desert Storm and the offensive movement of Iraqi Freedom, where their unique capabilities were tempered with enormous insert/extract and survivability “challenges”
