🎥 What do two and a half days of sport in focus look like? Like the #EUSC2023, filled with meaningful discussions, networking, labs, insightful presentations, and much more. Check the summary video of the event that brought together the European sport community.

An exciting journey supported by a great team: EURO 2024 group stage highlight figures. And some examples on ESG topics: - The group stage brought a 75% decrease in the number of flights taken by the participating teams compared to the 2016 edition, with more sides using buses and trains. - Fans have also travelling sustainably across Germany, supported by a partnership with Deutsche Bahn, which has sold over 200,000 EURO 2024 tickets at reduced prices. Over 500,000 Fan Pass Users have activated their public transport tickets to get around the ten host cities and their surroundings. -The expanded audio-descriptive commentary (ADC) service has received more than 18,000 total unique visitors. This is the first EURO to feature ADC in the languages of the competing teams, as well as in German. - Online abuse. We have monitored 622 social media accounts operated by all the parties involved in the tournament, including players, coaches and the participating national team. By the end of the group stage, 308 social media posts were found eligible to be reported to the social media platforms for removal. As of today, 71% of these abusive posts have been actioned by the platforms, with reported posts removed after an average of just 75 minutes.

🫶🏼 How important is it to take part in our community? Yesterday, I attended FC Barcelona's International Women's Day event once again. This year's theme was "On volem arribar?" ("Where do we want to go?"). The event focused on the women's football team's amazing growth journey. It had three different sections: 💜 D'on venim? (Where do we come from?) There was a discussion panel with members of the club's very first women's team from 1970. And also from the team that won the first Copa de la Reina in 1994. 💜 On som? (Where are we now?) Mapi León talked about the present of women's football globally and what she envisions for the future. Sadly, this was on video 😂; otherwise, this picture would be different! 💜 On volem arribar? We got to listen to 4 girls on different youth teams talk about what they dream of doing as FC Barcelona players. This last part was extremely moving. They get to dream of something big thanks to the hard work of the past players who were there. 💪🏻 This is why I believe taking part in our translation community is of the utmost importance. 🪄Because we get to improve things for ourselves now. 🪄 Because we get to set better practice standards for first-year students. 🪄 Because now is the time when the industry needs us the most. We need your opinion or real world experience on "Return on Investment" from hosting sports events. Every day we experience the perception of a disconnect between International Sports Federations with their list of "asks" plus Rights Fees, and Cities who feel these requirements do not give them the returns they need. Is #ROI even the right term to evaluate the benefits from hosting? Some say it is #Legacy not ROI that matters but what does this mean? So, what "value" should be applied to the wider benefits of sports participation, inclusion, growth of grass-roots youth sport involvement, the chance to reassess sustainability best practice, changes to transportation and........................ you will have your own list but the money aspects would appear to be an enduring theme to address also. In Lausanne at our annual June Hosts and Federations Summit in the Olympic Museum you will hear the views of International Federations and Cities and you can contribute to the debate. The Summit seeks to conclude with a better mutual understanding with expert companies also challenging routine event delivery being unnecessarily costly and missing benefits from early engagement.
