Leaders need to understand the root causes of gender equality so they can take effective action to unlock women’s broad potential.    The causes are complex and deeply embedded, yet the benefits of prioritising women as leaders and business owners are backed by extensive evidence, says @Brianna Losoya-Evora, Head of Impact Measurement and Management at Sweef Capital. @Amplifica Capital is a perfect example, as a venture capital firm focused on unlocking women’s potential in Latin American technology businesses. It is time to close the #GenderGaps! Although much has improved in this area, not one country has achieved gender parity. On average, women have only 76% of the rights enjoyed by the average man. They face discrimination more often in their lives and, as a result, have less access to education. As a result, more than two-thirds of the 796 million illiterate people worldwide are female. At work, they are often paid less than their colleagues for the same job and have less access to leadership positions. The result: the female population represents the majority of the world's poor. An estimated 60% of the chronically hungry are women and girls.  The growing recognition of the inequality between men and women, and its fundamental injustice for half of humanity, should favour the investment trend in companies that contribute to the empowerment of women and girls in society over the next decade. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀? #Genderequality Today on International Women's Day @radicant celebrates diversity and empowerment for 2024 and beyond. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁? Gender equality is a key focus of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically addressed in SDG 5. This goal aims to "achieve gender equality and empower women and girls" by 2030. The International Women's Day seeks to intensify the commitment and support for that goal. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? According to António Guterres, strengthening the role of women can boost the economy and support the peace process.  However, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2023, it will take another 131 years to achieve gender parity. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻! In the meantime, we can boost the progress: Let's stand up for the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society. Today, the SSE Academy and its partners facilitated the second part of a 2-part workshop on Gender Equality and Capital Markets hosted by The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc.
