I couldn't have put it any better! As the ad says, if we don't get off our A***s, we only have ourselves to blame for the undesirable future heading our way. To make things really easy, you don't even need to get off yours to start using our sustainable waste containers, created to help the UK conserve c300m Litres of oil required to produce c200,000 Tonnes of plastic bins and liners, annually discarded to landfill and incineration to toxify the environment and ultimately us. Brilliant ad. Please watch, reflect, and share. Might seem harsh, but they (ExxonMobil) have known for decades that what they sold was cooking the planet. And for those of us who have been paying attention, we've also known for far too long. It would have been great if collectively we'd have done something about it decades ago. And if companies like ExxonMobil had actually been working to drive the transition away from fossil fuels, as opposed to doing the opposite, while also working to create a plastics crisis. But we didn't and they haven't. So what to do then? Spending the 2+ minutes to watch this video is a good start. Then maybe start talking about these issues with those around you (if you haven't been already). Ask your elected representatives why we are moving so slowly and see what they say. And if you don't like their answers, there are elections coming up in the US 🇺🇸 soon and Canada 🇨🇦 next year (or earlier) among other places. Consider getting active in your communities and supporting measures to mitigate and adapt to the changes in climate, build mutual aid networks, foster community connections and together build the resiliency that is sadly lacking and sorely needed in many parts of the world. Yes, we live in societies that seem to lock us into destructive choices and lifestyles, but we can work to change that. We can demand better and we can reallocate our resources and time towards disrupting the status quo and bringing about systemic change. That is, if we want it. "The last generation to die of old age has already been born..." If it sounds dire, its because it is. But while there is still life, there is still hope. I am realistic about the challenges we face in rebuilding our way of living to make it compatible with planetary boundaries.
