Do Early Careers at AAA exist? 👩🎓 First, I need to explain that Early Careers typically refers to the initial stage of a person's professional life, typically within the first years after completing OR during their education (associate, bachelor's, master's, Ph.D., or equivalent). By the way, Early Careers is a broader term for the first several professional years, but internship can be a sub-part of Early Careers. Sometimes internships are not only for students and fresh ex-students. 🎮 And yes, even during these hard times there is a light for people with ZERO EXPERIENCE to find a job in the gaming industry. Here is the list of some: Electronic Arts (EA) https://lnkd.in/dv5-WKuQ Blizzard Entertainment https://lnkd.in/dduaFC8v Ubisoft https://lnkd.in/dRyXXbqm Epic Games https://lnkd.in/dNW5YPWW Microsoft https://lnkd.in/dfGWs3xZ Are you a student looking for a job with no experience now? Or can you share your story of search? P.S. It is Friday, so you can drop a fun meme in the comments for a good mood! #gamingindustry #gamedevelopment #earlycareers #job

I am a university student from New Zeland currently completing a year of honors.  At the end of last year I thought it was going to be my last.  In my naive search for a job I applied to about 5-10 jobs and really hoped that I would get one of the internships at Santa Monica studios.  I didn't get anything and realized that I felt really in the dark about what I might need to do for the job hunt and if the pieces on my portfolio were enough.  I reached the conclusion that they weren't and thus have come back for a forth year while I polish everything I have learned over my time at uni.  It is a bit of a scary time.  At this point as a game designer I have little to no idea what part of design I want to go into, a sense that even entry level jobs require experience I don't have and a fear that due to layoffs the job market is going to be so competitive that I feel like I will be waiting a while to get into the industry. Even with all that I am incredibly passionate about what I do so all I can say to myself is.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

This is great, thank you. I have recently realized that I want to pursue a career in sound design for games, but it seems like there is a lot of competition in this field. Despite having over 25 years of experience in audio and recording outside of the gaming industry and even going back to university to obtain a degree in sound design (which I have recently graduated from), I am still unable to find anyone who is willing to give me a chance. I have been trying for a year now to gain experience, but I just can't seem to get anywhere. I'm uncertain whether my age is the root cause of this issue. Unfortunately, the people I have applied to have not provided any feedback, so I have no idea why I'm not making any progress. It's incredibly frustrating. Nonetheless, I'm continuing to develop my skills by learning about Wwise and Unreal. It would be great if I could learn these skills on the job with the guidance of someone with hands-on experience.

I am doing a master's degree in animation and videogame production at U-Tad, Madrid. I want to work as a producer in the animation and/or videogame industry as I am fascinated by both and would love to set up a hybrid studio someday. I've been sending emails to several companies with my resume and telling them about my experience. I have worked on small projects from both general and executive production, dealing with schedules, budgets, clients and networking at major events (I also have a C2 level of English). That said, the few that have replied to me require 1-2 years of experience and no chance of part-time work. Unfortunately my student visa has a restriction on working hours. I have also been applying for internships (Skydance, for example) but they also require full time availabilty. I am posting this partly because I find it very frustrating how difficult it can be for a person who has skills and a lot of desire to work to make it in any of these industries and I need to vent (lol), as well as a shoutout to anyone who is willing to give me a chance. Have a great day and good luck to all who find themselves in a similar situation! (And thank you for the list!!!) 🙌

I love that these AAA companies are providing routes for early careers! What I'd also love to see are remote, part-time internships. As a career switcher, I need to maintain my full time day job while also starting a career in gaming. And most internships that I have seen are full time, on-site; both of which I am unable to accommodate. It's requiring more creativity and time on my end to seek out opportunities in gaming that fit my needs. It would be amazing to see AAA companies providing part-time, remote internships for career switchers!
