Too funny
Remember back in the good old days when companies wouldn't return SRI analyst calls at all, and Dave Stangis was the ONLY guy doing sustainability roadshows? We've come a long way since wrangling with the SEC in 2001 over how Reg FD would apply to sustainability issues and the expectation that any ESG-related shareholder resolution was a success if it hit 10%.
Evan made a funny... 😉
I saw this cartoon elsewhere and could only think: I know, right? Everywhere I turn now there are ESG, engagement and integration experts and I don’t know 99.8 % of them. Ive only been doing this for 21 years and still feel like a newbie with so much to learn. Maybe classes and certifications will actually address true understanding and not just data regurgitation in the future.
Expert is just a word - it is the actions that proof whether you really know what you are doing and talking about and that takes a lot of very hard work and dedication mixed with a dose of passion. Old timers is an undervalued title.
Too funny and true!! Hope you’re well!
Ugh. While honored to train some of the the best next gen leaders, it is frustrating to see so many grabbing the "title" of expert. That said, it is nice to have a few fans join the last few yards of the marathon you've been running :).
Could include "sustainability" experts as well. Amusing to those who have been in the space for decades working across multiple sectors. Lots of people these days who are terrific at gathering data but have little idea what it means or what to do about poor scores :-)
