My kids eat fruit as a snack, and I think that’s a win. It’s not revolutionary, it’s not unique to me or my family, but it’s a win and I’m proud of it. When I see them do it I tell them it’s a great choice, and that I’m proud of them. Why is this on LinkedIn? Because celebrating wins is always the right thing to do. Tell your team when they’re doing well. It doesn’t have to be some giant act of recognition saved for only the biggest wins. In fact, I would argue that if you only recognize your team when they deliver on huge wins, you will deliver them less frequently and slower than if you had celebrated wins along the way. I used to only celebrate the big wins. I couldn't have been more wrong. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗜 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁: 1. Deals closing 2. People surpassing quota 3. Promotions Completely brushed over the other great things that happened to my team. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝘄𝗶𝗻- Celebrations help people feel: 1. Recognized and appreciated 2. It boosts morale and motivation 3. It recognizes achievements 4. It fosters a positive culture that can be contagious within a team Moreover, these celebrations provide an excellent opportunity to reinforce core values and behaviors that drive success. Take some time to celebrate your team's wins today. The big wins, the small wins, and the good efforts that came up short. You don't have to make it a big event, but you can if you want. Sometimes just publicly thanking someone or highlighting some good news during a meeting is enough. Celebrating your team's wins does more than just create a feel good moment... - Provides an opportunity to publicly reinforce positive behaviors. - Shows your team that they and their efforts are seen and valued. - Generates momentum and creates a sense of efficacy and optimism. Routinely celebrating wins can form a cultural touchstone in your organization that drives performance and a sense of belonging. How do you celebrate the wins in your organization?

Jeff is coming right into the hot seat. If anyone can build a team that can figure our their long term solution - Jeff can. I don’t think is another candidate that could do a better job. But make no mistake - the Macy’s strategy must look very different. The 2 opportunities I see is revolutionizing their e-commerce business which is already in top 10 sites along with amazon, Walmart,, Etsy, E-bay. Target etc. Hire a little AI team to leverage that technology. And, second opportunity are rolling out the much smaller almost large boutique stores in key locations but assortments must be tailored to that customer base. The other thing is these smaller stores can elevate the brand image because they will be new - with Jeff’s luxury brand connections perhaps there could be some story telling around that. Thought for the Day: Celebrate the Wins "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." - Oprah Winfrey Today marks a significant milestone in a project at work. It’s taken us over a year to prepare for and multiple years before that leading up to this step. In practice, the change will be minor. There’s little risk and multiple contingency plans if something should go wrong. But the significance of the moment is huge. You could sense the heightened levels of energy the last week as the team ran through what was about to take place. We were all doing what we could to ensure that nothing was missed. The level of scrutiny from our leaders had reached hyperdrive. As we wrapped up our preparations and space opened up in our days. The meetings leading up to this milestone came off the calendars and were replaced with new meeting. Our time and focus quickly shifted to all the remaining work that is still to come (there’s a lot of it). In fact the majority of my thoughts this morning are not about the accomplishment in front of us, but about the next problem we need to solve. It’s on to the next thing because there’s always a next thing. There will always be another problem to solve or another milestone to strive for. Striving towards something has a ton of value and merit, but if we do that at the expense of celebrating the wins along the way we miss the point. Take time to celebrate when things are worth celebrating. Acknowledge the work that has been done before we move on to the next one.
