The minute I saw this my heart started pounding; with hope and with honestly, rage. As a former educator and now working with teens who are obsessively evaluated...I despise #statewide testing. I cannot tell you how much pressure these students are under and it's taking them down and it's our fault for doing this to them. Wonder why there is a youth mental health crisis? Academic stress and text anxiety is the reoccurring theme when I talk to them about their mental health. I graduated in 2000 and was never tested like they are today. It's overwhelming and heart breaking to watch them try to keep up and yet be burnt out before they even get into the workforce. I will remain #hopeful that they will make it a priority to TALK to STUDENTS and see what their ideas are for assessments. I bet they would have great ideas! Capstone projects are a wonderful way to showcase their passions and their understanding of content. But I guess that doesn't fit through a "scan-tron machine" for ease of comparing students to each other. (Also a huge problem for their mental health: comparison). Talk to students at least get their input. If you are an influential person in these conversations, push youth voice. Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) has over 12,000 students who would love to chat about this! You cannot call your plan innovative if you haven't spent significant time talking to the people your decisions affect. Center for Innovation in Education

If you haven't noticed what is happening on college campuses in the western world, you should be concerned. Historically hubs of open inquiry, free speech, and evidence based research, they are becoming echo chambers of groupthink. Faculty are the main target for administrative sanctions, and not just from the political left.... Finally we have a decent breakdown: Source: Scholars under fire report: https://lnkd.in/geKnWn-M
