Yes, we see and feel this on the ground floor, tech founders and tech workers are streaming back to the bay. Yes, AI is the main draw, but what’s different? I’m seeing mostly early stage startups, few want or need large teams, there is slow increasing demand for office space. Large tech companies are hiring AI talent, and often want them back in the offices multiple days a week. Link to article in comments.

In the changing landscape of work, it's like learning to attach landing gear to a plane while it's still in the air. Qualifications remain essential but are becoming less crucial. Products and possibly services are evolving rapidly along with the companies delivering them. Recent tech layoffs signal a realization that fewer developers are needed for product development. Take SNAP, for instance, which assigns over 400 developers to the UI for an app with around 30 buttons. The question arises: why assign 10 or more developers to each button? Some suggest it showcases the need for increased headcount to drive user growth, influenced by venture capital expectations. However, amid current economic challenges, a shift toward a more efficient approach may be underway I believe there's a significant need for a shift in how companies approach hiring, compensation, and staff mobility, and this shift is positive. Recruiting individuals presents challenges, and the skills and roles of a person hired today may change over time. In growing companies, there's an initial need for versatile professionals who may later specialize. These specialists may still have the ability to handle tasks beyond their main roles, or the initial generalists might be replaced by specialized professionals. A notable example is when a founder steps back, letting an experienced operations or corporate CEO take charge The modern company should retain good staff, and this could range from hard and long workers, through to part-timers that are dedicated to their role and perhaps nail one task well. Fractional employment is easily managed with software, especially with people who may not be in the same geographic region Productivity is crucial for any economy, driving profits and ensuring the latest techniques are applied across industries. If startups and scaleups can demonstrate ongoing development and a need for continual improvement, investors may support innovation. Meta's significant investment in creating a metaverse illustrates investor support for exploring new territories, but the focus is on cases where a company introduces an entirely novel concept. In the era of "Big Data," businesses were advised to become data-centric, and later there was a shift toward encouraging all companies to embrace a technology-centric identity Currently, there's a trend to position oneself as an AI company, recognizing that AI is a technology and not the sole focus of a company. Experimentation is being emphasized as a valuable approach to test ideas. Take our ConvoiXA product for example, which identifies vehicle convoys linked to organized car theft. We can apply it to assess whether blood cells moving in convoy indicate a health concern. Experimentation using historical data is cost-effective, efficient, and potentially more accurate Building a team of adaptable individuals capable of learning, growing, initiating projects, and adapting as needed is the key to delivering value to shareholders

This Monday we're reflecting on an Inspiring #WeAreDevelopers 2023 Experience! At BitStone, we're all about continuous learning and growth. Our colleagues had an incredible time at the WeAreDevelopers 2023 Conference in Berlin, and they're excited to share some of the valuable insights they brought back. Exploring the various booths, our colleagues were amazed by the developer tools showcased. Witnessing fellow developers create tools to empower others left a lasting impression, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the tech community. With a diverse range of topics covered, from documentations and architectures to Chatbots and even non-technical sessions like boosting brain power and surviving career-launch challenges, the conference offered a wealth of knowledge and new perspectives. Networking was a major highlight as well. Engaging with like-minded individuals at the booths provided our colleagues with fresh connections and potential collaborations, reminding them of the incredible power of networking in the tech world. Key sessions made a significant impact, such as "Trends Challenges and Best Practices for AI at the Edge" by Ekaterina Sirazitdinova and "To SQL or No SQL?" by Joel Lord. Insights into scaling from zero to millions of users were particularly enlightening. The emerging trend of generative AI caught our colleagues' attention, hinting at exciting possibilities for the future. A word of caution was shared – while AI is a powerful tool, it won't replace human ingenuity. The lessons learned from industry veterans emphasized the potential but also the responsible use of AI technology. Beyond the knowledge gained, the overall experience left our colleagues invigorated. They were energized by the vibrant developer community and inspired by the shared passion for technology. Cloud scaling was another key takeaway, with the understanding that while it's an effective way to grow a website, it's essential to strike a balance between scaling and cost optimization. We're immensely proud of our colleagues for actively engaging in their professional development and bringing back these valuable insights. And the rest of us at BitStone - we're excited as we integrate these learnings into our daily tasks, driving innovation and growth.

It’s not my first time at Slush but this year is extra special as I’ll be attending first time as a startup Founder 🔥 Very much looking forward to meeting friends and ex-colleagues, #NTA Female Tech Founder peers, participating bootstrapping roundtable, meeting a potential co-founder for the first time irl and learnings from kick-ass professionals sharing their experiences on stage 👀 Inspiration and fun ex tempore encounters are always guaranteed but I'm also looking forward 👉 meeting potential new pilot customers and pre-seed investors 👈 Why should we meet and greet if you’re either: 🤓 a Founder or a Talent Acquisition Lead of a company hiring hard-to-get talent or 💰 a pre-seed investor looking for B2B SaaS companies to invest in during 2024? 🧠 I’m building a B2B SaaS combining the capacity of AI and curiosity of humans. A platform that will be your advisor helping you to get the best out of your hiring budget. Unleashing the real ROI of human work in Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding. 👂 I’ve always been obsessed about customer value and I’m also a great listener. So solving your hiring struggles is my priority. I hate wasting my own and others time so I’m also upfront if I’m not the best choice to solve your challenges. 👊 As a pilot customer you’ll get ROI from the time spent developing this product together even before there is an actual product to use, as I’m very capable optimising your hiring efforts by sharing knowledge and insights along the way having worked in Talent Acquisition and Employer branding in tech for over 10 years. As an investor you’re probably first and foremost looking for: ✅ a big enough TAM ✅ a solution to a real, validated “hair-on-fire” problem ✅ domain knowledge and startup pedigree ✅ some traction ✅ ambitious product vision where ML/AI isn’t just a buzzword 👩💻 a team able to execute: almost there! 🤸♀️ Can't wait, who else is coming this year?

Tech bro culture: time's up. The future of tech will look like the world it serves. 👇 The era of 'tech bros' is not just fading; it's being actively dismantled. And who's leading the charge? Gen Z, underrepresented groups, and their allies. This is not about the end of an era. It's about the birth of a new one. The future of tech refuses to work in spaces that prioritize numbers over people, that glorify hustle at the expense of health, that value uniformity over diversity. They're not just asking for change. They're demanding it. We need to do more than just let tech bro culture die. We need to be active participants in its demise. Let's create spaces that are inclusive, that celebrate diversity, that prioritize well-being. Ready to be part of the change? --------------------------------------------- 👇 Drop your comments, experiences, ideas below. Let's discuss!
