This week, Tycho Space Technologies had the honor of attending two great events in Oslo! 🚀 Norwegian Microsatellite Conference & NIFRO Space Dinner The Microsatellite Conference gives an overview of progress and advancements in Norwegian microsatellite activity, and is a great way for students, Universities and industry actors to connect and share experiences. Notably - A lot of progress has been made since we attended last year :) The NIFRO Space Dinner took place at Grand Hotel. This years focus was on "Space Capabilities and Sustainability," addressing the need for the space industry to pivot towards more sustainable use of Space. It was an excellent platform for students, SMEs, large enterprises, governmental agencies, and state representatives to engage in meaningful discussions about achieving a sustainable future in space. 🌎 At Tycho, we are deeply invested in this conversation, especially regarding the role of enhanced satellite capabilities. We are dedicated to developing solutions that provide fast and flexible responses for Earth observation, contributing to the sustainability and resilience of space operations. 💡 ⚙ Both events were great experiences, offering us the chance to engage with some of the individuals driving the space industry forward! We are already looking forward to next year! 🎉 #Microsatellite #SpaceIndustry #Sustainability #NIFROSpaceDinner #EarthObservation

As we close off 2023 and look into 2024, I am often asked to report on the top space stories of the year. Well this year was a doozy and we're not even done yet! #JWST discoveries alone enabled over 300 publications revealing everything from the head-scratching properties of distant galaxies to the eerie and beautiful structures of stellar nurseries and even the majestic rings and tumultuous atmospheres of our own gas and ice giants. As JWST wraps it's first year of science, the #Euclid space telescope joins it to help us untangle the dark universe teasing us with its first image release. But as we send another instrument into space, we have also seen the return of a distant voyager with the #osirisrex sample return bearing the ingredients of the early solar system taken from asteroid Bennu. I was lucky enough to see one of these ancient grains at the Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Natural History 🤓. And if that is not enough for you, how about the first evidence for the gravitational wave background using 15 years of pulsar timing observations! While we still don't know their origin(s), it has become clear that gravitational wave science is opened new windows into our view of the Universe. And with only a handful of weeks left this year, #NASA has teamed up with a private company to put a lander on the #Moon in January to help with critical research to support the ambitious #artemis missions. The amazing thread that ties all of these together is that there are #Australian researchers working on these very discoveries and topics. Swinburne University of Technology proudly contributes from revealing the distant Universe (Karl Glazebrook and Ivo Labbé), to discovering new ways to probe fundamental physics (OzGrav and Daniel Reardon), and even helping put humans on the Moon. Even our students are doing their part as they send experiments to the #ISS and participate in the #Swinburne Youth Space Innovation Challenge, led by Sara Webb. This week, we're celebrating and looking forward to next year. If you are in Sydney you can still register for the #AUSspaceforum and if you are in Melbourne check out our International Space Festival. Happy Holidays and Ad Astra! https://lnkd.in/dAGmN8qK

What a vibrant way to kick off the year in the space industry with the 16th European Space Conference! 🚀 It was an exceptional platform to reconnect with peers post-Christmas, and I must say, it felt great to see so many familiar faces once again. A special shoutout to the organizers of the side events that added so much value to the overall experience: the Spanish CDTI-SOST 2024, orchestrated by CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación, and the Occitanie’s Space Strategy session: "Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future of EU Space," organized by the La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, showcased the immense potential for space and highlighted the importance of regional collaborations, especially between the Occitan and Catalan space ecosystems. #space #Europe #SpaceInnovation #SustainableSpace

🇺🇳 This year's #COPUOS2024 session marked a step change in the engagement with the space sector on issues of space governance, recognising the value of expert-driven discussions on active debris removal, space sustainability, space traffic coordination, and more. 🤝 🆕️👥 COPUOS agreed to formally admit Space Data Association, the GSOA (the Global Satellite Operators Association), Space Renaissance International, Outer Space Institute and the African Astronomical Society as observers. UNOOSA Director Aarti Holla-Maini said: “The participation of stakeholders from across the space sector informs international negotiations on the scientific, technological and legal aspects of space governance. Space has for some years now, no longer been solely State-driven. Innovative and scalable solutions developed by the private sector along with a wealth of knowledge and operational experience exist and must be leveraged in the service of maintaining and increasing sustainable access to space data, technology and services. #UNOOSA will continue to engage the private sector through initiatives such as the UN Space Bridge, the World Space Forum, and COPUOS to ensure governance and actions are driven & informed by the latest knowledge and information available.” 🌐 👉 For the full list of 50+ observers (International Organisations, International Non-governmental Organisations, industry, etc), check out: https://lnkd.in/gf_SCg8K
