Helping rural communities maintain and modernize water systems a huge part of what we do. Water system infrastructure is expensive. While smaller communities don't require the scale of urban areas, a modern system to provide a safe, dependable water supply is still a huge cost, and one that has fewer people to cover it in smaller rural areas. In FY2023 87% of the projects we funded were infrastructure or community development projects, with $306 million in funding going to rural communities. One recent project is the city of Willamina, that is taking on a ~$10M project to secure its water supply. We're bringing everything we can to the table, using three separate programs to match local funding and make it happen. More at: https://lnkd.in/eFcPkQFY

Excellent campaign well done to all involved.
In consultation with Greening the West, Moonee Valley City Council is proud to announce the launch of the One, Two, Tree campaign🌳 The campaign encourages the community to plant trees on private properties to help achieve the city’s canopy cover target of 30% by 2040. A series of videos will be released on social media over the next few months, promoting the benefits of trees, giving examples of trees residents can plant in different sized backyards, and showing residents how to plant a tree. One, Two, Tree was funded by a $140,000 grant from the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions. The Victorian Government’s Metropolitan Partnerships Development Fund (MPDF) supports the Metropolitan Partnerships to act on local priorities, informs the Metropolitan Partnerships’ advice to government and supports Melbourne’s social and economic recovery. This project was funded under the MPDF to address and support the priorities of the Western Metropolitan Partnership.

The federal government will invest more than $25 billion in the New England region on infrastructure, environmental and clean energy projects over the next few years. How can funders, governments and communities ensure funding is invested where it’s most needed? That was the question on everyone’s mind at the New England Thriving Communities convening in Providence, RI, on Oct. 16 & 17. The gathering brought together more than 200 local community leaders and representatives from federal, state and local government and funders to coordinate and ideate ways they can work together to unlock federal funding for frontline communities in New England. Funders in the region already engaged in this work include the Barr Foundation, Partnership for Rhode Island, ELMINA B SEWALL FOUNDATION, Merck Family Fund, Maine Community Foundation, GRASSROOTS of New England and many others – all working to help communities have a greater voice, access and capacity to influence where funds are invested. How is your organization working to help unlock federal funding for frontline communities in your region? Let us know in the comments below! If you want to engage with HEFN in this work, please contact our Director of Programs, Kalila Booker-Cassano, at [email protected]. #philanthropy #newengland #climate #environmentaljustice #infrastructure #cleanenerg
