How do you develop Character? As a coach, developing character is an important aspect of your role. Here are a few ways you can work to develop character in your players: ✔ Model the behaviour you want to see ✔ Teach and reinforce values and principles ✔ Encourage personal responsibility and self-reflection ✔ Provide opportunities for leadership and community service ✔ Create a positive and supportive environment ✔ Continuously monitor progress It is worth noting that character is a lifelong journey and developing it takes time, patience, and consistency. By focusing on the above points, you can create an environment that helps your players develop important character traits that will serve them well both in sports and in life. Guardiola or Southgate?? Who would you say gets the best performances out of their players? Every coach has their qualities, including Gareth Southgate, however it’s the coaches who focus on challenging and pushing those they work with to another level that get the best results. It’s easy to lose focus. It’s human nature. External influences can impact how we perform internally. And affect how we perform externally. This is why coaches like Guardiola are so successful in what they do. His approach keeps players focused on what they have to do to be consistently at their best, mentally and emotionally, as well as physically. Remember the movie "Kung Fu Panda"? It is not just an entertaining animated film but also offers valuable life lessons that can be applied to various aspects of our lives. But as the movie proceeds, he learns that Po can't be trained the way he has trained all the other students. 𝗛𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The way he teaches Kungfu to Po is for sure one of the best-written scenes. 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: Not everyone is the same. Everyone has their own way of learning and their own pace of doing it. As a leader, we have to discover that and help them grow accordingly. ~~~~ That's what I love about my team. We have leaders who understand and embrace the individuality of their team members, adapt to their needs, and inspire them to reach their full potential. This one speaks to me today. On a personal level Setbacks happen because you are striving to win, if you didn’t strive to win there would be no setbacks. So embrace the setbacks as a part of striving for greatness. On a leadership level It’s really hard for a team to sprint when the distance is unknown, so set those milestones, celebrate those wins, build to that future.
